I review my grete swerd of war made by Polish blacksmith Rafał Woszczyna of In'Carius Craft. This sword is representative of an Oakeshott type XIIa, and is notably a big, beefy version of the type, worthy of the "warsword" nomenclature. In this video, I give a little background on Mr. Woszczyna/In'Carius Craft, and discuss the XIIa typology as well as common mistakes on budget swords in this type. Then I take a look at the sword and scabbard itself, before talking about how the sword handles, then doing some test cutting with the sword, and finally give a verdict on whether I think it was worth the price.

Good review.
I had a similar issue with my scabbard on the Viking sword I got being too tight, but not to the point where it gets stuck or is unusable. Mine is lined in some kind of fabric, and it looks like some of the fabric on the inside got pushed down which created a tighter spot. Also if I leave it in there the area where the fabric is a bit bunched up will create a bit of patina on the blade, so I typically just leave it out of the scabbard. Otherwise the scabbard looks fantastic, I think they just need to make sure they don't get too tight. I believe his wife makes the scabbards. The leather work and dye is very nice.

I think they must not be allowing the wood cores to cure/stabilize enough. It's a shame, because like you said, the leather work and dye job are very well done.

Baroque music and specialy works of J.S Bach fits better to the medieval spirit than the more intimist and indivualistic music of the romantic period.

So, I know that when you buy something it should work as intended straight away, But my DIY spirit is tingling. with a little bit of work, the scabbard could probably be opened up and shaved down a bit. I'm about to attempt this on a scabbard I made myself with glued leather and some risers, so I can report back my spectacular failure or success.

Following back up on the In'Carius scabbard issue, I had my Viking sword out of the scabbard for quite a while, just tried to use it and almost got the sword stuck. I'd say it's at the point of not being usable anymore unfortunately.

That's so unfortunate. My hunch is that he's not letting the wood cure/stabilize enough when making the scabbards. Seems like it should be an easy thing for Rafał to fix going forward, so hopefully he'll do so.

Hopefully he can correct the issue because I was going to have the Kriegmesser I commissioned get a scabbard all done up and fancy but now I'm hesitant to risk it and may just get something super simple instead.
