Hi, I'm back and I need your help again to identify another sword. Sorry, I'm a new collector. I recently bought this German Carl Eickhorn saber. There is only 1 marking on the sword which is "Carl Eickhorn Solingen" on the blade. I've already Googled Eickhorn's swords, but I can't find that specific model. I bought this sword at an auction and they didn't have much information, they just said it was probably a 20th century German saber. I would very much like to find out the most accurate date of manufacture and use, and what kind of military might have used it. And if possible, I would like to receive indications of books or websites where I could learn these military swords. Thanks a lot for all the information.

For starters I would like to suggest you have a look here :: www.deutsches-blankwaffenforum.de/galerie/lange_seitenwaffen-1.htmlAnother source of info is the forum :: www.deutsches-blankwaffenforum.de/index.php?s=f29d9b2ab2989ff6dc549e93a5404b18They can provide really excellent information. Also, on the above startpage you'll find the Carl Eickhorn catalogue of 1901. The pages can be downloaded. This design was quite popular and as such hard to pin down. There is this one head eagle in the second picture of the etch. The flared mouth piece makes me think of Bavaria, but do not quote me on that one. On the whole, the sabre is more like a degen, with its narrow and nickel plated blade. That's all I can say at the moment. Deutsche Blankwaffen is the place to go I'm afraid. Cheers.
