Picked up the Hardcover graphic novel Hound today, about Cu Chulainn. It’s super good and interesting so far, with a color pallet of white black and red that uses a lot of negative space for a Dream like atmosphere (and to save printing money lol). I’ll add some pics in a moment.

Nice! That looks awesome. I'm a big fan of comics and graphic novels; I'll have to get this one once I get some spending money.

I live smack in the middle of where all that stuff was legendarily supposed to have happened. I’ve waded over the river in which Cu Chulainn fought Ferdia and the rock to which Cu Chulainn bound himself to keep himself upright in death is in a field about 12km from where my house is. I always thought the story of The Hound of Ulster would make a great movie in the vein of 300.

Apparently the comic was originally planned as a storyboard for an animated movie but transformed into a graphic novel.

That’s awesome. Apparently the comic was originally planned as a storyboard for an animated movie but transformed into a graphic novel. To our shame, we really take this stuff for granted here. We could really make more of it. Both Cu Chulainn and Fionn Mac Cumhail have some great yarns and really terrific imagery spun around them. The Red Branch Knights and The Fianna belong to the same tradition as Charlemagne’s Paladins and Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table.
