Almost afraid to ask now because it's a done deal and headed my way from across the pond, but has anyone ever gotten one of these and can they vouch for the quality? Says full tang, EN45 steel and sharpened. It's a screw pommel, not peened, but for 70 euros plus shipping and everything else either out of stock or much more expensive (like the TFW Celtic) I figured I'd jump since it was the last one and he who hesitates,....uh...saves money by not buying yet another sword they don't really need. Oh yeah, the link.... www.celticwebmerchant.com/en/celtic-hallstatt-sword.htmlAttachments:

NOPE! I love having conversations with myself, but after some quick comparisions, it's definitely not the Kris Cutlery version. The guard on the Kris are two brass plates with the blade sandwiched in between; on the one I just got it's all one piece.

Very upset with who I bought this from, Celtic Webmerchants. It was purchased on the 9th of February. USPS tracking says they never got it, that only the label was made. PostNL said it was supposed to arrive on the 14th or later and we're two weeks past that now. They started an investigation (as Paul Simon would say), but with no tracking updates and two weeks overdue I'm pretty sure some lucky postal employee is enjoying my new Celtic sword. I'm waiting for a refund but so far no answer.

I hope it's just a similar problem I recently had with buying a few pairs of socks from UK for my dad. Trace was lost a few days but in the end I just had to pay custom fees. Somehow the Brexit custom complications caused a tracing interruption. Good luck!

Somehow the Brexit custom complications caused a tracing interruption. Good luck! No luck here. I just got an email that said to research a missing item takes 8 - 12 weeks, so it's going to take 3 months for me to get a refund, after it's already a month late getting delivered.
I would like to warn people against using Celtic Webmerchants. Their mailing procedures are questionable and if something happens to your package, forget it. They are not helpful and not looking for return business.

Well, I finally got my Celtic from WebMerchants today after almost two months. Wish I could say it was worth the wait, but….
It’s a total POS. Worst wall hanger I’ve ever had…NOT what I was expecting. First thing I noticed as I pulled it out of the plastic was the leather on the handle (cheap thin vinyl shoe coating leather) was peeling up at the guard. I had some glue at work, so I figured I’d fix it here. As I started to apply the glue, one of the brass colored studs popped off, so I had to glue that too. As I was gluing that, I noticed the pommel was loose and spinning (threaded pommel with a nut) so I put Loctite on that. Now I’m noticing the brass bands around the grip are uneven, but at least they seem secure for now. The edges on the curved guard are rough, uneven and unsanded or polished, like someone carved them out with a jigsaw and left it. Let’s not even discuss the gap!
It was only then I felt the edge, which was supposed to be factory sharp. Totally blunt. Not a trace of an edge. HEMA blunt where the edge is actually flattened. It’ll be impossible to sharpen with anything other than a belt sander. The scabbard, if you can call it that, isn’t worth ANYTHING! The rounded ends have crude Sharpie marks along the inside to give a rough idea of where to cut, and I do mean ROUGH! It looks like a 2nd grader did the trim with some safety scissors. I feel bad for the cow that gave it’s life to produce this trash.
Very sorry I actually spent money on this. I got that Devil’s Edge Xiphos which was a very good quality and this isn’t even in the same catagory of weapons. I’d sell it, but with full disclosure, I don’t think I’d get even close to what I paid for it. This is a give away.

Sorry to hear the bad news. If you take the pommel off can you remove the grip and is it a rat tail tang?

Sorry to hear the bad news. If you take the pommel off can you remove the grip and is it a rat tail tang? I don't think it was a rat tail. There was a nut at the end of the screw and the metal got wider and went into the handle from there. I should have taken it apart, but I was afraid with how badly it was constructed it would fall apart or go back together cockeyed, so I just used Red Locktite and screwed it back on as tight as it would go.
I can do pics later if anyone is interested, though I did already fix a couple of the issues. Lesson learned. If it isn't listed or reviewed or being sold by a SBG forum member, stay away!

That looks to be about my level of craftsmanship. Yikes! Ha! Yeah, I'm all for giving opportunities to kids, but introducing elementary school kids to sword building in shop class when they should be making ash trays, bird houses and Chrysler Sebrings seems a bit extreme...

I really don’t like the way those brass bands overlap and stick out. Looks uncomfortable. If it was mine I’d take that handle off and make a better one. But even the it would still need to be sharpened. My sympathies sir.

I’m going to take a wag and say you’ve owned a Chrysler Sebring at some point AND it wasn’t a good experience. Again, my sympathies.

I'm a Toyota guy with a decent VW Passat right now for a change. I was going to say Ford Pinto, but it's an old car they don't make anymore, so I Googled worst cars ever made and the Sebring was on the top of the list! I think a relative of mine had one for a while. Just trying to be funny...

It's rough and hideous like a lab experiment gone horribly wrong. It....LIVES!

I sent the pics to Celtic WebMerchants and they're "looking into it". Maybe if I take another photo of me throwing it into the dumpster they'll get the idea a refund would be the best way to proceed. Next step is I post it online....

Well, the Celtic WebMerchants customer service rep was just as appalled as I was and offered me 50% off so it ended up costing me about $55 total, which I think it’s worth it. I’m glad they acknowledged that, even for a budget sword, there has to be SOME level of quality standards and this was well below anything acceptable. So Celtic Webmerchants made good at least, though obviously. I'll be a lot more cautious and do more research before making another purchase through them.
I spent about an hour with my Accusharp putting an edge on it and touched it up with some of my Lansky stones. There were metal shavings everywhere! BUT it’s sharp enough to slice paper, so at least you wouldn’t want to get hit smacked with it and I’m not embarrassed to put it on display sans scabbard…if you don’t look too close. And don’t hit anything hard with it. I probably need a new Accusharp now…I was hesitant to even start, but the EN45 or whatever it’s made of is fairly soft steel - certainly won’t keep an edge, but I’m not going to be attacking any tatami mats with it.
