So I thought I'd do something about it...
No idea if it'll work, but I prefer the sharp's disc pommel so I'd like to see how two 'rotation-alignment discs' go...
So far it feels very comfortably snug (although rough and edgy) and not surprisingly I just missed the pell with the shortened hilt just like I have been with the sharp... Training sword modification so far successful
Now for string wrap and leather.
If it's a success, the sharp's guard is loose and I was never totally happy with the hilt...

One advantage of a screw pommel is it makes it easy to experiment with grips. Here's the development so far showing the original grip shape, what I changed it to, then the shortened-to-match-the-sharp "twin pommel".
I didn't like the twin pommel. Although I had loads of control and great edge alignment it just didn't feel "right" So I combined the first iteration just below it with the pommel on the end which I really like
