Thats down at the riccasso base though how does it look in the middle upper portion of the blade. Honestly that low on the blade won't be getting much cutting and isn't as important as the upper mid section that will.

But from what we can see, think that can be recovered without grinding away too much? Or at least get touched up to be properly paper cutting sharp.

It could but again it's in a place of the blade that doesn't really matter being the transition point of the riccasso to the edge. It might be ugly but again you're not going to be doing any cutting with that lower portion of the blade so in reality it doesn't even really need to be sharp there which is why it isn't. If you look at the image here, I highlighted the primary cutting area of the blade. The little arrows show the center of percussion or "sweet spot" as it's know for getting the best cut from the sword. The base of the blade doesn't need to be as sharp as the upper portion, especially that transition point from the riccasso to the lower edge. It might be ugly but you'll never actually be cutting with that part of the blade anyway.

Yup, I don't really mind the appearance too much, tho having paid for such a askew sharpening is abiy rough. They do offer a free touch up, but issue is that I tried cutting the paper with the whole of the blade to barely any effect.

Might as well shoot them an email or give them a call for that free touch up. I've had a few dealings with Reliks and they've always been an upstanding business in my opinion, I'm sure they'll get it right for you.

They replied extremely quickly and guess the biggest cost I will have to pay is the wait time for it to get back and forth. Also durinf some nightly swings (do I need to clean/oil after swinging in the air?) I checked the side of the grind on each side of the edgesm Far from any equal but get better than on the base. 20 to 30% difference? Tho, I let my dad handle the sword with gloves on but he swung it at some flowers and now I noticed some small black spot on the affected edge (a few isolated spots exist along one side of the blade. Seem to be there already) How do I get rid of those? (With my mag polish? Id have to find out what a terry cloth is. Can we polish on spots and not the whole thing?)

No, dry handling is fine without re-oiling or Polishing unless you were touching the blade. Sounds good then a little touch up and should be fine. It's probably just stains from the flowers. Any type of vegetation will stain the blade when cut. Yes just use your polish and they'll clean off.

The blade ussualy is just touched by my gloves, tho they do leave polyester strands often. Il prepare it to get sent back, tho my current issue is realising mineral oil is bad for leather and that my leather edges did get oil from the oiling. Hopefully I can get some leather conditioner quickly and apply some without any damage done.

Guess what's on the MRL DOD tomorrow? Nice you going to buy it? Looks like it's finally back in stock if they put it on the deal of the day. Need to get an edge on mine so I can do the follow up review, maybe this week or the next. Ever got that new edge?

Aye. Eager to compare your experience with your blade vs mine in the firm swing departement. Im surprised your sccabard is soo loose, mine is very firm and tight and need a good pull/push. I think my blade dosen't feel as springy when wiggled? Id have to recheck to compare tommorow, gonna try to rub to what seem to be faint spot of rust out tonight.

Allright, the sword is back! I am not too certain the sword had been retouched up for a few reason but seem the black stain right on the edge seems gone soo it might have but they reused the same packaging/bubble wrap and didin't touch the plastic wrap I kept on the handle to protect leather from mineral oil). Cost me nothing other than time at least. (To be fair, i did say they can re-use the same box, viva recycling!) Will later clean and try my new renaissance wax!
