Hi I'm a newly appointed Australian Army officer and looking for some guidance as to where/who to purchase my sword from. I can gain little information on what sword to buy other than it needs to be an infantry officers sword. From what I can garner the Australian sword follows the pattern of the British infantry officer sword of 1912?? I have come acrossthe makers WKC, Pooleys and Windlass. I'd like to purchase a good quality sword that I can use during my service and also keep as an heirloom to pass on to any of my children should they serve as well. I would also like to know about options for customising my sword to make it unique as possible whilst still allowing it to be carried on parade.
Any information on reputable makers would be greatly appreciated.
PS: Im not looking to refurbish a sword.

Sorry can’t help you but doesn’t the army have any approved/recommended vendors for this?

You certainly won't be the first FNG to show up in need of a sword, and other ceremonial knicknacks. Ask your buddies, somebody probably has one for sale, or knows the best place to get it. Good luck, and congrats on your commission, BTW.

Thank you all, I have def asked around my unit and even a previous OC who is now a LtCol. They are all very vague and point me to different online stores to purchase. I am struggling to find any policy guidelines on what the standards are. I'm sure there someone with subject matter expert knowledge. Just have to find the right person.
Many thanks for your replies

Welcome aboard
The p1912 is a cavalry sword. A p1897 is the infantry sword. Sam Brown gear. Pooley or WKC will be more superior swords than Windlass. While an old period sword is a possible solution, it would need to be as mint as a new sword
View customization for your car in this case.
Cheers GC

As mentioned 1912 is Cavalry. What you are searching for is 1897 Infantry pattern. www.army.gov.au/our-heritage/traditions/swordSurprised your superiors could not tell you,it is on the website after all. Try Lawrance Ordnance in Sydney, they should be able to help.

Hey mate, if you are Canberra based go see Ironside Military, they stock new WKC infantry 1897 pattern swords, as well as frogs, knots and Sam Browne belts. Run by a veteran, gives all serving or ex members a discount too.

As a military man, have you ever studied war crimes? Along with aggression, genocide and crimes against humanity, war crimes are among the most serious crimes against the peace and security of mankind, affecting the interests of the international community as a whole. States, according to the principle of universal jurisdiction, are obliged to search for persons who allegedly committed or ordered the commission of such crimes. Cases of this type are sorted out in the company ucmjdefense.com .
