Hail friends, I have this old DSA Henry V. I want to round out some of the edges, but haven't the slightest clue where to begin. Do I just start grinding away slowly and gently? Tips? Hints?

What type of tools do you have available? You might consider removing the hilt components so you don't accidentally mar the blade or grip, but that's up to you. I wouldn't take it to a stationary grinder or belt sander without removing the hilt first, but a dremel or just some files should work nicely if you keep it intact.
Also, the hilt looks like it was aged or otherwise given a dark-ish finish. Any work you do on the edges will probably expose brighter metal, so you may need to decide if you want to polish the whole thing or try to get the same finish on the worked edges.
Hope that helps!

A file (careful, scratches!) , stripes of sanding paper, if you have a worksharp you can use a belt even without the maschine just taut between your forefingers.

I had actually already got around to it when I didn't hear back from anyone I just use the belt sander to round off the edges and then polished with a finishing sander, it was fun! Still a little work to be done cleaning up when I take it back out.

Yeah, but the next level is the inner side of a swept hilt rapier guard!

Just saw this. It looks like a good start. A bit late now but in the future if you tape the fragile parts such as the hilt and blade it might save you some grief from a slip. A motor tool also works well as does a file for some hard to get at places such as inside of guards, not to ignore sandpaper.
