I relate to this guy so much haha. I never realized how miserable steel helmets (medieval armour in general) are to wear and train in for long periods of time

It makes my scalp itchy tho I tried to get my hair to grow long enough for me to do a braid down one side of my head, but without cutting my hair for two years it still did not get long enough and seemed to quit growing.

Trippy, I used to have that exact hair haha, almost like a cossack. I still kinda do, but I braid it back now. I like keeping the sides and back bald to help beat the heat

My padded coif helps wearing the helmet.

Andi: yea i been meaning to get one. Having a heavy steel helmet on doesn't feel too comfy, and mine as an open face. I can't even imagine a closed face helmet
Tiger: I don't think metis had any traditional hair that I can think of. So for me it's a pure larp lol

I have not noticed an itching problem. I have several coifs and a skull caps of varying thicknesses that I use to adjust for size depending on wearing mail, which mail, or just the hat. I find my helmet a valuable piece of equipment.

Considering the whole thing is in parody as a motorcycle safety campaign, while it's been years since I've ridden I can say with certainty I've never felt uncomfortable wearing a full-face helmet. I do judge, harshly, anybody who does not wear proper safety gear when riding, especially if they're riding dangerously.
Though my flowing golden locks did often find themselves unsettled after a ride... I thought about carrying a comb, but eh.
Hilarious commercial, anyway.

My curly locks demand a soft bristled brush, and nothing less. Thankfully I just braid mine and call it a day. I recommend it if you know its gonna get messy. I used to use full face helmets when riding a ski doo, but you don't have to watch for traffic off road, so full vision isn't as necessary

I find my helmet a valuable piece of equipment. I got a skin condition, so everything is itchy. It's the worst I agree about the helmet. I value it. I am considering getting another, maybe it's just the one I have that's uncomfortable. I got a Norman helmet (one of the ones with the bar that covers the nose) I can't imagine having any other kind now, other than a kettle helmet

I tried braiding, but the whipping action was not well-liked. Still had helmet head up top, anyway.
I'm not sure if straight or curly hair is better in a helmet. Both get matted, but my hair still got pretty tangled after a ride.
Oh, and a proper helmet does not affect vision at all. I started with a 3/4 with a shield, then moved to a full-face, and eventually a modular. None hindered my vision at all, unless it was cold. That's when I popped the visor just a bit for a defrost. Not a lot of fun to ride below freezing, but I've done it plenty.
Don't own any other kind of helmet, so can't really comment on the ones folk here are talking about.

I wore a helmet religiously on my moto and bike both. Went down with the moto with it running into the back of my head. The only ill effect I remember that time the sound hurting my ears. That thing acted as an amplifier. Another time I went down on my bike. I felt nothing head wise but the left side of my hat was skinned. I did fracture my arm that I doctored myself.

When I dropped my bike (RIP VTX) the one thing that broke me out of my "Is this seriously happening?" fog was the terrible sound of my helmet sliding on the asphalt. That and the burning sensation from my arm doing the same, underneath the rest of me.
Helmets save lives. Wear them.
Or get your dagger into the eye slot, as the case may be.
