Howdy folks!
I'm a new member but a very long time lurker of the forums here. Decided to finally get off my tail and make an account. I look forward to learning from and conversing with everyone.
As far as experience, I've got a (very lite) background in Iaido, Kendo, and Shotokan. I'm prior service so I picked up what I could where I could. For collecting I actually started as a teenager, but really picked up after I joined the military.
I currently own an 1873 Chassepot Yataghan bayonet, an M1917, a blued repro M1917, Yugo M48 Bayonet, CS MAA Grosse Messer, a suspect antique Katana type thing that I'm currently working on getting some information on, and a smattering of other things. I started collecting with bayonets and still enjoy them. Especially sword bayonets. But and slowly working on expanding. Other hobbies tend to get in the way sometimes.
Thanks for having me!

Welcome.
Bayonets, especially old sword bayonets, address good fun and a fairly inexpensive way to start getting some antique steel. I've got a French Gras bayonet, myself, and at one time thought I'd have more by now. Alas, my collecting journeys have taken me elsewhere.

Bayonets are a great gateway item to collecting without breaking the bank. I still enjoy collecting them but have been moving to more swords over the years now. I still love the French and English Yataghan style bayonets though. So I'll always have some version of one on the shelf. Thanks for them welcome

I'm reasonably sure it's an old Chinese copy but I'll get her posted as soon as possible .

Welcome to SBG Forums, Midnigh7Run. You have more nice toys and experience than me that it is for sure. I only hold a yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do and a green belt in Tang Soo Do. I have basic training with a katana. I also own no swords at the moment. I hope that you enjoy the community here as much as I do.

I practiced Iaido and and Kendo rather sporadically. Finding a dojo or trainer near my base wasn't always easy so I'd pick up lessons when I could. So, I know which way the pointy end goes and some neat ways to sheath/un-sheath a sword. I do still practice rather regularly at home but, haven't been in a learning environment for some time. For Shotokan, one of the older guys in my shop (I was Crash/Fire) was an instructor. So we would usually train as PT when I was on shift. Some days were just going through different Katas. Others, I was usually getting my butt handed to me . It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Overall though, my martial arts experience is rather novice in comparison to anyone with serious time in a good dojo. Definitely nice to see some other martial artists in the forums . Thanks for having me!

Thanks for having me! I also have had a little bit of informal training in Tiger Claw and Muay Tai. I picked up on the movements but I am not that good at it. Though I do have a little bit of time instructing. In the affiliation that our school was in, green belts were required to start assisting teaching beginners.

When I was a Crash/Fire instructor, being able to teach and critique the skills used by others really helped me refine my own. Iron sharpens iron and all that . I like that Ultramarine minifig. Best of two worlds. Well, maybe not best, but uber okayish at least. Also welcome. Haha thanks! I like to think of it as a twisted version of "Everything is awesome".....And on fire...And heresy. Thanks! ^_^.

Thanks! ^_^. I have not been active in martial arts for quite some time now, though. I had injured my groin trying to do a round house kick at too high a level and pulled stuff. Now I live in a town that does not have Tang Soo Do and with my current medical problems, it looks like I may be done. That is okay though. I was never really any good at it anyway. I was slow, poorly coordinated and unbalanced. Ear damage from too many severe ear infections greatly hindered my equilibrium.
