My impression of the dagger is your typical Chinese fantasy piece where they take a lot of features from historic pieces and kind of mash them together into... something.
The Japanese characters (don't try to translate, they are unlikely to mean anything), the Fascist Eagle handle, the faux Orthodox Cross, the Baulkins style coat of arms all capped by the modern skull and cross swords motif.

I was told that it says Quedagh Merchant. Which was a famous pirate from the 17th century. I'm not sure how accurate that is thou.

Wikipedia says the Quedaugh Merchant was ship captured by Cpt. Kidd in 1698. Why put that on a Hungarian paratrooper dagger? Then again, why fake a Hungarian paratrooper dagger?

There are nazi daggers the OP dagger probably is inspired by. I extracted and enhanced the coat of arms symbol, trying to search for it, yet without success. My educated gut is telling me that it is a Chinese fake produced sometime after Pirates of the Caribbean came out. Arrgh! Watch your wallet, matey!

Well done on locating its likeness. Re the authenticity, I think the casting quality doesn't match the one in your picture. the details are too soft. That doesn't mean that it isn't a later production, but of course, after 1945 Hungary was occupied by the Red Army to eventually become Communist and part of the Warsaw Pact. So it couldn't be any newer than 1945.
Then you need to look at how rare these are, I can't imagine that Hungary had a large paratrooper force so it is possible that real ones are super rare. Finally, compare your blade shape to known examples.
Either way, you're well down your path of discovery, good to see you enjoying the journey.

Wow, great find. I never would've thought it would be Hungarian. Looking at the few originals I'm seeing, though, I'm confident this one's not. Very different blade and, as already said, the casting quality just isn't there.
