This is the first messer I've had a chance to handle. It's a pretty beastly chopper that is fun to use.

Thanks for the review. It's about 10 oz lighter than the Honshu Grosse Messer despite having the same spine thickness. That'd be the flat grind vs the fullered saber grind, and maybe less mass in the fittings.

You can always refinish the wood. I think an oil finish would be becoming. Thanks for the review.

The Honshu one must be tiring to use at that weight. I imagine the pommel on the Condor being wood rather than steel lessens the weight a decent amount, although it also pushes the PoB out from the guard.

I might do that. I've been thinking about buying either boiled linseed oil or tung oil, and this would be a good one to apply that to. I might try to polish away the finish on the guard and scabbard fittings, as well.

There is also teak oil.

I forgot to get the exact measurement, and don't have easy access to do it right now, but this is where it's balanced:

Thank you, that's similar to the Honshu, which is about 7". It is tiring to use for long periods, but really it just requires conservation of momentum and wide wind-up to work at all. My video review more or less shows this.
