Very nice sabre Calien! I would not immediately conclude the script is faux Arabic though. Only if there is an indication the blade was made in the West. I have seen Islamic (talismanic) scripts on antique finds that look quite like this. If the blade was imported a museum expert dealing with old, regional, Islamic writing could tell more.

There is cast steel, without being wootz. Some of it more refined blister steel.
