A comparative review of 2 German langes messer reproductions, one made by Landsknecht Emporium, the other by Cold Steel. I did some extensive test cutting with both messers, and talked about their handling characteristics, along with details of their statistics, such as the length, weight, point of balance, distal taper, profile taper, blade steel, flexibility, edge geometry and blade typology, as well as the historicity of langes messers. I found that, despite they have comparable profiles and sizes, small variations in design details set the ways they handle apart quite drastically.
I also discussed briefly the practicality of these two messers when used with a Talhoffer buckler. In the end, I found each of them a compelling choice for its own price range, given that both demonstrate their own strength and weakness. Nevertheless, either or both of these come as highly recommended for HEMA practitioners and sword enthusiasts in general.
The video is information heavy, so I divided them into sections. Viewers can skip to the part they are most interested in. 4K60fps rendering takes forever (several days) at YouTube, hopefully when you watch it, it's already done rendering.
