Posting that article about that elderly lady got me to thinking. With all of the bad news out there how about we try to find some good news like that and post it here so that we can get some good news for a change instead of all the bad news.

The way I look at it, Sparky, is that the world is brimful of good people doing nice things for other people. Every second of the day is crammed with the very best of human nature.
The reason bad stuff makes the news is just that. It's news. It's unusual. It's so out of the ordinary that it warrants reporting.
99.999% of life is good and kind. Don't let the 0.001% that's miserable colour your view of the world and other people.
The overwhelming majority of people and of the world is cool.
An example from here is that there has been a massive increase in applications for university medicine and nursing courses. So much so that universities are struggling to accommodate them all. When asked, all these teenagers quoted the pandemic and the work that they've seen healthcare professionals do as the major influence on their choice of career.
Imagine... All these teens who are vilified so much in the media deciding to step up to the plate like this in record numbers. Think of how many lives they'll save over the years or what techniques and procedures they'll invent.
This is a proper good news story.
However the main news channel here spun this as bad news and emphasised the lack of university places instead.
Go figure.

Bad news sells a hell of a lot better than good news. Every now and then something positive will break through, but if one reads deep enough, it's seldom as positive as it first seems.
Like a story I saw recently of a child saving their allowance and paying off school lunch debts. Why do we even have school lunch debts?
Good things do happen, though.

Plenty of good news out there. It's around us everyday and it can be found everywhere. But bad news sells, and unfortunately that is what we hear all the time. Did you hear about the plane crash? Of course. But did you hear about the 1,500 planes that landed safely and everybody on board got to where they were going on time? Of course not. Nobody wants to hear the good news because the truth is that it's far more common than the bad and we take it for granted.
If you wish to see the good in the world then all you have to do is open your eyes to it. It can be simple things like stopping traffic so ducks can cross the road, or it can be giving a hat to a homeless man to keep the rain out of his face. We never hear about those simple acts of goodness so it's easy to think they don't exist.

Well, that was my point. The media mainly focuses on the bad and rarely touches the good. I know that good things get some media attention. It is so bad that you almost never hear about good things outside of your own state or whatever (depending on your country's set up). I know that there are people here from a lot of different countries and they probably almost do not hear about some good things that happen here in the USA just like we almost hear nothing good from their countries. We are filled with so much bad news that I would like this thread to tell those good stories that we otherwise would not hear. Thanks to those who have and will share.

There was a TV station in Puerto Rico that I liked because of their focus on good news but my cable company dropped them. They did have a transmission problem and their program was frequently interrupted. That was the only news program that I really enjoyed and looked forward to viewing.

Yes , fRemen really do dislike misspelling and misspelled . ๐ People who have trouble with spelling should form a club or something. It's about time they untie under a common bond.
