Anyone got a lead on an example or Smith that can do one?
My daughter is super into breath of the wild and Zelda in general.
We've run through about all the knock off crap Amazon and eBay has to offer. They are all terrible, let me tell you.
The best was the 1045 skyward sword model for lime 70-80 bucks. Decent scabbard. The sword rattled something fierce and bent.
Anyone know of someone who could even do a dagger or short sword style master sword? We don't need the elaborate handle but just the distinctive riccaso/ blade and maybe the upswept hilt /wings sort of look.
There's a good example of the different master sword style, but a short sword or dagger no more than 23 inches would be awesome.
Anyway, I'll take any recommendations, maybe a few hundred bucks or so that I could put. That basically prices me the cheapies at the moment.

Sorry mate, For fantasy stuff any custom smith will charge you in the $1000 range even just for a dagger, even more so if you want a completely done up scabbard. best you do is go on Kult of Athena and check out their selection of Ancient period daggers. They have a few lades on their that I've always thought would make a nice Kokiri sword with a little paint and arts/crafts work. Ironic that you would mention the 1045 model, the design is actually stolen from a famous smith in australia. The Original that the rip-offs on amazon are based on cost $5000 to make.

Best thing you can do is get a blade and make a kokiri or ordan sword. I'm sure Wes would do it for you if you send the blade his way.

I remember this! Man, Jerry put a lot of love into that piece. Best thing you can do is get a blade and make a kokiri or ordan sword. I'm sure Wes would do it for you if you send the blade his way. I always thought that the sword of Svante Neilsson Sture would make an interesting historically inspired Master Sword. I've held the Albion version and the blade presence combined with the fittings I think would translate well. The pommel has three window like cavities that likely had religious images in them. They would be perfect for the three elemental gems that show up in multiple iterations of the game.

This talk of the Master Sword reminded me of the "A Link to the Past" artwork of the sword before it was reforged in the story. The base MS looks like it has an Oakeshott Type XVIII blade with a riccaso and forward swept cross guard.

You know I never noticed but your right it would make a perfect base for a master sword.

Dave that is an amazing repurpose for that! It has always been under the radar to me but now you got looking at the blade in a while new light. Thanks

Yea that might be my future goal now haha. Seems easy enough. I would even happily carve the metal with a grinder myself if I gotta. Or try casting. I would be satisfied with an aluminum hilt of thats all I could have for a while

I guess if anything invest in one of those wallhanger master swords for hilt parts, or go all out and have Jeffery cast you a guard and pommel when you get the blade done.

Most of the newer ones have metal castings the older ones I know had plastic hilts.

Punra Darnal can make it without any problem, as long as you can give him all the hilt references, and the specification of the blade, including the length, profile taper, distal taper and cross section. Looking at an option with 5160 steel blade, and bronze furniture, with a grip made of exotic wood and optionally leather wrapping of your choice.
