My Dad gave this to me when I was a boy. As-is, never had the blade. Has anyone else ever bought, or had commissioned, just a blade for one of these?

I had one in my collection. It was not blackened but had a brass coloured hilt and bright metal blade.

You could buy one of the reproduction M1918 trench knife and swap the blade.

It’s been over 20 years since I sold my collection but IIRC the maker’s mark was on the ricasso. If that’s of any importance.

Do you remember how that pommel piece worked? Was it a screw-on type? I can't find anyone selling these with just the blade and pommel.

Just googled ‘1918 trench knife for sale’ and found a company that sells it for $45. Description say it’s a full tang blade with a screw on pommel. The company is Brass Knuckles Company. Too bad you don’t have the original blade. If it was actually from that time they are going for almost $1500.

Sorry I can’t remember, too many years ago and I wasn’t really into knives as a collector although I did have several military in my collection. And at the time the types of construction never entered my mind. I only remember that it was steel?, darkened, protruded, and somewhat pointed. I remember thinking that in itself would make a good weapon.
