Bat*21 is a really great tale of Search And Rescue in Vietnam. Yes. My gray cells aren't loading fast enough.

Which Henry V? I have The Big Red One Reconstruction on DVD. I was surprised to find out that there was a lot of scenes and pieces of scenes that the studio cut out without even consulting Samuel Fuller. Three more. Gods And Generals Gettysburg Field of Lost Shoes The newer Henry V is all I've seen, I was going to put 13th warrior aswell. I love the book, I was mad when they didnt have Runding or the 6 daggers. Big Red One is freaking great" pushei". I'll always laugh I watched Kenneth Branagh's rendition of Henry V from 1989. It also had Batman Begins Batman when he was a teenager. He only has not even two months on me in age. It is a good one. My favourite scene in The Big Red One was when they were in the forest and talking about the party and Kaiser talked about wanting the plump woman to place her bare butt against a cold window so that he could thaw it out. 😹😹😹😹

King Rat 1965 pow Stalag 17 The Bridges at Toko Ri Flight of the Intruder Swing Kids Rescue Dawn Conspiracy Stalag 17, another classic...which reminds me of The Great Escape (What a list of stars in that one) and Stevie jumping those wire fences. There is also The Great Raid with Benjamin Bratt. A Ranger unit in the South Pacific raid a POW camp to rescue US and Filipino soldiers. It is based on an actual event.

Gah, I'm an el stupido! Of course, I totally forgot about Run Silent, Run Deep. That, along side Das Boot, are THE two greatest sub movies of all time, bar none. They are mandatory movies to have in every man's personal video library. But if you could pick one movie, and one movie only to show an alien visitor what a "great war movie" is, which would it be? What do you say is the "greatest" war movie of all time? My pick would be "Das Boot". It has real world relatable characters, action, and excellent production values. It also shows the human side of war, where the sailors would at one moment be goofing off and laughing, and the next be in a literal life and death fight for survival. It also shows the meaningless of all the struggles that war brings. Now there are other movies I watch and enjoy regularly, and I have listed them previously. But I think Das Boot is the best of them.

I watched Come and See a few days ago on YouTube. I'd never seen it before. Horrific and disturbing.
Some great movies on these lists. I really liked Fury. I'm surprised it didn't make more lists.

Perhaps using a miniseries is cheating, but I think those do an amazing job showing the geopolitics leading to the war, the combat and the horrors of the Holocaust.

I will allow it. 😹

Black Hawk down Jarhead Saving private Ryan And many others
To be honest I mostly came ti ask if first blood counts? It's one of the best war related movies I've ever watched. Every other Rambo movies stains the name of first blood. First blood makes any marvel movie look like garbage
Man, I love that movie. Recently watched it and was reminded what a great movie it was

Recently watched it and was reminded what a great movie it was I mentioned First Blood and The Deer Hunter previously. And as much as I love both movies, I don't consider them "war movies " per se because they don't actually take place during a war inside the war zone. I view them more as psychological dramas, but they are so good that I will accept them in that category if anybody wants to argue the point. Perhaps there should be another genre just for post-war veteran stories like The Outlaw Jose Wales, First Blood, etc. Movies not technically about a war, but about the aftermath on the people who experienced it.

My da received this link to his Facebook. I looked it up on You Tube. This battle scene is awesome. It is from the movie Baahubali: The Beginning. It is a Bollywood film. I hope to find an English dubbed version.

Because that really was the only way that story could have ended. But they wanted the sequels and killing the protagonist as the final scene is as anti-Hollywood as it gets. Still one can wish. Everything else with the RAMBO name attached was pure unmitigated sh*t.

And then there is the most horrendous, terrible devastating war movie of all time.
War of the Roses. Starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. 😏

Please don't ever mention that movie again in any context or for any reason. If you do, I will encourage the moderators to give you a lifetime ban. Just no.

Well, except for Kathleen Turner in (while not exactly family fare) Body Heat.

And then there is the most horrendous, terrible devastating war movie of all time. War of the Roses. Starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. 😏 The funny thing is is that there actually was a civil war in England called the War of the Roses. They were the House of Lancaster represented by a red rose and the House of York represented by a white rose. Hence it was called the War of the Roses. They were cadet houses of the House Plantagenet. They warred over the crown of England. However, I am sure that many or most of you know that already.
