Jason Woodard Just Released his Extreme Durability Test Video on our Doomsday Cutlass. See EXTREME durability tests of our Doomsday Cutlass Sword. Completed by professional reviewer Jason Woodard. Slicing through Jugs. Chopping through Trees & Hard 4x4 Pressure Treated Wood. Striking & Stabbing against Metal Trash Cans, 55 Gallon Steel Drums, Metal Poles, and even SOLID GRANITE! The Doomsday Cutlass didn’t break and nothing came lose. It passed ALL tests, only showing minor edge damage on the final test, when it was struck repeatedly against SOLID GRANITE. It has a powerful cleaving and chopping blade flowing from a hand guard that both defends the knuckles, and packs one heck of a punch! You should publish the HRC in the statistics at the beginning. You missed the boat there. You convinced me as to the toughness of the blade, having said that I have difficulty in picturing myself with that in the field in a doomsday situation. The blade suffered minor damage and as you say can be filed out. However I’d hate to have the job of resharpening it. I suspect many a file will just slide off the surface and those that don’t won’t be taking off much metal per stroke. I would prefer something more easily maintained in the field under primitive conditions. Just my thoughts on the matter.

You might try Harbor Freight for that quality of a blade you are referring to (lower HRC). I hear they have some good machetes and stainless steel knives. I want to make my blades as edge hard as possible. Most people wouldn't be chopping granite in a real doomsday scenario. So zombies and animals wouldn't dull my edges easily at all.
The HRC and our heat treatment process is noted at the top of every product page on our site, including the one linked to in this post.
