Hi This is my first post and wanted to show off the only sword i have customized and recently finished. What i took was a Hanwei banshee and replaced the handle with horse stall mat. I chose to stack rubber mat because the way the tang was made. I did chose to keep a very similar shape to the handle since i grown to like it over time. I did make it a less tapered so that your hand doesn't feel like it wanted to slide down, that was the biggest complaint i heard about this sword. I also put a flat faced pommel which is a solid hammering surface if needed. This stuff rocks, super grippy, comfortable and durable. This was my first build so i have a question. What adhesive would be better for this material? I just used black jb weld brand epoxy i got from my local auto zone. It's really hard to do but you can take a fingernail and really press right at the seams you can see it separate the mat from glue. Thanks

That looks awesome!
I'd try contact cement. As it creates a chemical bond after curing. Cosplayers use it to bond all manner of things.

That looks good. I have a banshee. One of my favorites. What did you use for the pommel? Also I think Mr. Black is correct in recommending contact cement. It might even melt the rubber a little. One more question, did you shape the discs first or did you do that after mounting?

Sweet! thanks Ill try the contact cement. i was thinking it was easy to peel but ill give it a try. (only experience is with tire patches lol) My pommel is a cheap simple unshaped pommel knifemaking.com/collections/pommels/products/sp101-stainless-unshaped-pommel-tapped-10-24?variant=31266196914312 Worked out perfect because the tang on the banshee is threaded at the end. Made it super easy to just stack the rubber and screw it on. The fitting next to my blade, i used again a simple katana "seppa". i didn't want a big guard and it was the dimensions of what was already on the stock banshee. Didn't find my exact link but i just google it. I took rubber squares and stacked them, then belt sanded to shape.
