If you already have your answers, maybe do some more simple searching. I think they're asking for help because they DONT have all the answers... At the same time, entering "casting a bronze sword" in a simple search engine replicates virtually everything else posted in this thread. My response was to this particular comment by the op "I've watched them but i think the wax is too delicate for normal sand casting" My post was in encouragement, not discouragement. He has a much better handle on things a month later but let's go back a few posts. "dos anyone know where i can get a sand casting box 3ft long 1ft wide 6in thick steel or wood" "i did it" just made a circle" I did not rag him that simply bare ground can be a large casting box requiring no carpentry or welding but hey, my next would be my first. You? So gwynbleid, instead of encouraging and applauding him doing the work, you have bothered to ping me regarding something that really isn't your call to judge. Cheers GC

From Neil in 2004 and his discussion on using molds. www.bronze-age-craft.com/swordcasting.htmIf one then goes to Neil's more recent pages, he explains things in more detail and his use of molds vertically (aka the mold simply placed in a hole in the ground after heated just as the metal is in a crucible (also clay) ready to pour. He further goes on a bit that is is a bit of rocket science, trial and error before success but things are pretty straight forward. Carve a wood master or sculpt a stone one, make a mold, choose your metals and away you go. Somehow this has been missed, even when Neil's work has already been presented in this thread. Again, my next would be my first but search engines actually work pretty well (even if looking for someone's residence address). Cheers GC

Seemed as good a place as any.

When offered help, you refused it and then returned some time later to ask again for help that could be easily found from associated phone numbers and names. You are being hypocritical. I am being honest. Cheers GC

You're the one who is consistently rude to people on here. Congratulations, you're a forum elitist who can't take criticism.

The knife was originally going to be a spear head based off the stone ones but i didn't have a long enuf stik so i made a knife
I also made a small wedge like axe blade i have yet to find a stick to haft it
and since i did not have enough bronze i have mixed in a lot of brass
Everything i've made has been crude and low quality but i'm getting better i'll try to update you more but it's hard with school in my way

And luckily i've only got miner burnes that didn't hurt
Also one of my favorite things about casting is that when i open the crucible there's bright neon green or pink fire its amazing is someone able to explain why the fire is like this
Sorry for the ranting

You could probably go down to 2mm but I'm not sure how that would work with bronze. Ive never used antler but I believe sharp knives or chisels will work just fine, as will files/rasps or sandpaper. If you pick the right piece of antler you won't need to do much shaping.
