Thanks Joeb. I got the same advice from Brother Nathaniel
I sent him a photo of what I wanted with lots of measurements. I also have a Deepeeka kopis/falcata that the hilt fits me near perfectly. So I used that to determine that measurement.
And now another update video

Oh my lord, that's stunning. You could be in Alexander's companion cavalry with that piece.

It arrived!!!! I cannot recommend Mr Purna Darnal highly enough. An absolute pleasure to deal with and the finished product is gorgeous.
Forgive my grungy look, home with a cold.

That looks amazing.
If I had any kind of expendable cash, I'd likely get one just like it, plus pitch another idea I've been toying with. Pity I'm broke.

I like the look of that. The smith did an excellent job bringing you commission to life.
Now I am going to be wanting one.

That's a lovely sword. Have you cut with it from horseback yet?

Thanks all. I can highly recommend Purna.
I attacked the leather on the scabbard with isopropyl alcohol to strip some of the bright red dye, which is actually more like paint. I've come across this with leather from the sub-continent before. I did as best I could and then soaked it in oxblood dye. Let that dry, polish with a cloth and then use a lot of leather dressing. I made new straps to mount the suspension rings, and moved the second one back, then made the baldric.
I think it looks a lot better.

I wasn't against the original color, but I'm really liking the new one.

That's a lovely sword. Have you cut with it from horseback yet? Not yet. I am doing an ancients mounted demo next weekend where it will be debuted.
