The Gotland... I just purchased recently from Swiger in the classifieds and.....that original pommel shape *shudder*. So wide, so weird...so uncomfortable. I changed it slightly and I like it more now. Yay for me! Did it change the balance, the POB...oh the HORROR. eh...maybe a tiny little bit but I can't tell. POB measure before and after seem to be basically the same using the balance trick and a tape measure...so if it moved its 1/8" territory. 2021-03-28_11-38-24 by warspite15, on Flickr Gotland by warspite15, on Flickr 20210328_113148 by warspite15, on Flickr 20210328_113702 by warspite15, on Flickr

Looks nice and a lot more comfortable. I also like that bronze color look in the first photo. I know it’s just a trick of the light, but it’s still a cool look.

Thanks Pellius It's kind of a trick of light sure but I will tell you that the fittings on this particular Squire Line are minimally finished in terms of polishing so they are rather dark compared to polished steel in the blade.
As to the blade maybe it's an outlier maybe it's not but I can tell you that the sharpening and the finish on this blade is essentially Next Generation level. I have another Squire Line the Clontarf which has a much different sharpening, definite seconds bevel. Just an interesting observation but this sword has a really well done sharpening and grinding job

Nice work. I have owned 2 of those swords and to be honest, that pommel was the most uncomfortable of any Viking sword I have owned. Great work on the redo for sure!
