That seems to be the same as the IMA piece. Same ad copy. www.atlantacutlery.com/wwii-german-luftwaffe-survival-macheteSteel scabbard, notched grip and nicer looking guard. I can see a hesitancy to not want an exacting piece but I would think that those that know would be "wow, cool" or those that don't "what is that thing?" "Well, a modern South American variant of an Axis piece". The Condor has a thicker blade stat but otherwise does not share a lot of pictures. The canvas scabbard might actually be a plus. I guess the solution would be to buy both and do a head to head comparison. Cheers GC

I may have gotten one eventually anyways. But since I'm a Condor fan and they've given it a few tweaks of their own, I was excited to see this one. Since one could get both for only about $200, I just might.

I pulled the trigger on IMA’s offering. Would have gone ACC but being OOS on a discontinued item, what’s the point? I got excited when I saw Condor’s offering but a 16” machete at 2⅛ lbs with a 5mm spine along with aesthetics steered my over to IMA, which is cheaper. IMA’s jobby is 4mm thick and weighs 1.65 lbs, and grooved grips is more to my liking. The fact Condor will be offering a canvas sheath almost sold me. I do not like steel scabbards and for me the canvas more desirable. Then I remembered that I can pick up a leather sheath locally. Rather have the canvas but leather will do. That blade is very similar to CS Jungle Machete, or maybe I should reverse that. That Jungle machete is a good one but for some reason I haven’t been using it lately.

Condor's description says a canvas sheath with leather belt loop, but the picture shows a leather sheath with a canvas belt loop.

Pretty cool looking piece(s). Haven’t been up-to-speed on Imacasa or Condor lately, so they’re new to me (at least that I can remember) so thanks for bringing it to attention!
It’s a nicely designed piece, though yeah a bit of a mixture of feelings when you come to admire blades tied to particular historical, um, parties. I wonder what the benefit analysis is like at some of these companies when they decide to a) Do runs of particular designs of this nature, and b) make highlight or market it with it’s historical “ties” front-and-center. I’d imagine they don’t really have to, and most consumers wouldn’t take particular notice.

You can see in their ad copy that they make a strong effort to call this a commemoration of the Charlie Brown/Franz Stigler incident and also avoid using the word "Luftwaffe". Which, fair enough. It's a cool design.

It's a cool design. Ah, I see. Guess that question doesn’t apply as much here, that seems a decent way to go about it. Regardless: definitely agree, cool design.

Pretty interesting style but, handle is not very comfortable, as for me, especially according fact that it's weight is almost 1 kg and 0.53 meters length

I questioned the grip when I ordered. It is squarish with no what I call a pinky tit for lack of a proper name, and no lanyard hole. I received the shipping confirmation yesterday so in 2-3 weeks I’ll know. The issues above are not insurmountable. I’ll give my thoughts on the IMA version after I’ve had time to evaluate it.

The machete arrived today in record time. Evidently CR has no problems with me buying a machete. It zipped right through and I couldn’t find any of customs’ tape on the package, which is one of the best packing jobs I’ve seen. I cannot give a complete run down but it seems to be a good one. It arrived in good shape well packed in grease. The frog is of low quality canvas. The edge feels very sharp, guessing I’d say paper cutting. From the photo the grip appeared boxy and I had concerns about this. Though a trifle small it is comfortable in my #8 hand and flairs nicely giving a secure feeling. The bluing is nicely done. And I like the quillons. All in all I’m happy with the choice and think it will satisfy me more than Condor’s version. Having said all of that I found one flaw, I cannot get the damn thing out of the scabbard. I know it went in and therefore should come out. I get varying degrees of resistance until it gets to the spot in the photo at which time it stops with an audible click. I’ve tried all reason force with no success. I’ve written IMA. This is disappointing.

All I can think of is if the blade may have been inserted on the wrong side of a retention spring/self sharpener. Or the spring and or sharpener is adrift in there. I'm curious what their reply will be. I have an Argentine springed affair that only goes in one sweet way.
You could work on it like a slide hammer to see if it moves but watch your fingers. First, get the frog out of the way but before even that, maybe IMA will reply. Personally I would call and rationally with a quip but I realize long distance might apply.
My wristbreaker arrived from Fa gan slammed shut in there and it took all three feet and twelve thumbs to separate the sword from the scabbard.
Cheers GC

I have a return authorization, it’s packed, and I’ve made copies of all the necessary paper work. At 09:00 Monday it’s out of here. I’m glad my freight forwarder now allows returns at no charge there was a time when I’d have to eat this.

I guess all the Condor has to do to beat the IMA is make an appearance.

Thanks for the video. From what I could see of the knife it was well put together and I think will be a welcomed addition. It will go out first thing Monday morning but with a round international trip involved I’m not looking for a replacement any time soon. This week coming is Semana Santa and much is shut down for the week and everything comes to a screeching halt by mid week. Hopefully it will be out of here before that happens.
