Cross section will be full convexed unless specified usually. "Full convex" isn't really a cross-section so much as a bevel... I'd argue that the "full" in "full convex" indicates it's a continuous bevel all the way to the spine, thus a description of cross-section. Just like "full flat grind" is pretty sufficient as a description. It's worth asking about how the fuller changes that but it wasn't really ambiguous, at least to me.

It was really the fuller attribute that had me curious. I've yet to be answered by the person I asked, so I'm still waiting to call the matter settled. "Continuous bevel" though, I'm not sure would be great here. I'd honestly prefer it flatter to the fuller with a gradual progression to the edge. Also, how "convex" are we talking? Oh, I forgot to mention re: BrotherNathaniel: I used quotation marks because that's the grammatically correct thing to do when using someone else's words.

same angle full flat grind or rising convex grind?
could it be done like a kitchen knife/seax? spine would either have to be overly thick or with too acute of an angle... whippy.
aesthetics would be off at the fuller suspect purna will put a ridge/bevel below the fuller and curve/split at the tip
we dont see many wheel of time swords, so i am extra thankful alientude is willing to share his frequent updates

I think a defined bevel would hinder the aesthetics of this blade, but one could certainly introduce a soft transition from flat to convex, which I think would work well.
Edit: At least in the fullered portion. The rest could well be a direct convex (of whatever geometry) or maybe even a flattened diamond...

I didn't specify a cross section.
Progress from the first day of forging:

I just spoke to Purna, he states convex all the way from the spine. How the Fuller changes that or whatever, I am not 100% sure. I even showed him photos of different grinds/cross sections and he picked it out of the line up. i stand corrected then, maybe more of a tulwar/pulwar looking blade (wide), but only rough shaped so far' cant wait

Looks good so far. I'm curious to see how well he does the side rings on the guard.

I really like the way the ring guards came out. I've asked him to round the tips of the quillions.

I'm not sure how I feel about the guard so far, but if you like it that's good enough for me.
Getting excited to see the finished product.

turning out nicely. ...and there is a central ridge (which is much more aesthetically pleasing imo) unless I am hallucinating
alientude or purna: did u change your mind about the convex? also looks hollow ground which is quite pleasing

May i ask what he charges you for that cool thing? We are going now for a more medieval/fantasy interpretation as a replacement for the ZT "Harvester" we just sold... Purnas drawing so far: i think he nailed it again. He promises the whole thing will be FAR under 1500 g instead of 1800 g at the original design... Attachments:

Great job on the pommel. I think the lines of the guard could be tweaked a little bit, but it's coming together nicely.
