After seeing all these other fantastic blades people have commissioned from Purna, I just had to do one of my own.
My version of a heron-marked blade, inspired by the Wheel of Time series. Purna is working on his full size drawing right now.
The drawing doesn't show it well, but the rectangle on the guard represents ring guards on each side.

Digging the lines of the design. Reminds me of a two handed Swiss saber. Balanced right that thing will dance through targets.

This one should be really good. How detailed are you going on specs? Length, width, thickness, taper? Or just letting Purna take control?
Edit:

Swiss Saber was my first thought, too.

I provided a ton of measurements. Shout out to Brother Nathaniel for help refining these.

Nice. Wedge/triangular cross-section?

Very cool. Based on his brass inlaying with the hadhafang, maybe a brass inlay heron?

I didn't specify a cross section for the blade, other than providing the thickness of the spine.

looks sweet, glad you went with the saber design and a half and a half grip(not sure what is going on with the katana types - lazy movie props?) in the middle of customizing an old va warder. judging by purna's previous work, you'll probably have it in hand within only a few weeks can't wait to see the finished prod

(not sure what is going on with the katana types - lazy movie props?) There's so much Asian influence in the Wheel of Time that a katana or other east Asian sword is hardly inappropriate. Especially for the ones supposed to be ancient relics. I agree the swiss saber is a better looking fantasy sword though.

Nice design, Kyle! Don't forget to send Purna the distal taper measurement, edge geometry and the grip cross section diagram. I think he will definitely deliver.

Magnificent ! The design is so crisp and clean too Did you ask for a scabbard ?

Yes, he'll be making a scabbard for it.

I agree the swiss saber is a better looking fantasy sword though. asian concepts are prominently featured, but the overall vibe and settings feel medieval - not sure I can picture a katana in the story setting. Borrows heavily from Lord of the Rings plot in the beginning and other stories (arthur hawkeye :D ) and I think the elven equivalent are Aiel -who dont use swords... windlass's licensed sword does take a veer towards katana like blade but the cover artist (Lan on the first cover) and sword descriptions in the book are truer imho

Nice. Wedge/triangular cross-section? Cross section will be full convexed unless specified usually. "Full convex" isn't really a cross-section so much as a bevel, but if it's just gonna curve steadily from the spine to the edge that's probably fine, too. Didn't know if it was gonna be flat to the fuller and then convex or convex the whole way.

Nice looking design, looking forward to seeing the end product. It's tempting to jump on the bandwagon. I'm always looking for the perfect sword, so why not have it built custom? All I have to do is figure out what the perfect sword is.

The perfect sword is one that can freely morph into any sword its weilder can imagine, instantaneously.
I don't think when Purna can make that...yet.

Didn't know if it was gonna be flat to the fuller and then convex or convex the whole way. But yet you still understood what I meant. I love the quotations before the lecture. Nice touch buddy. It really makes me feel the camaraderie. No, the question is still unanswered. Clarification is still desired, as posted.
