Dang, this kukri can cut

Seeing all the hubbub around here regarding GGK and, I assume, its top smith, Purna Darnal, I ordered a stock 15" Sirupate Kukri and just got it a couple of days ago. Needless to say I'm very happy with it.
Fit and finish is great and it came very sharp. Mine weighed in at 580 grams, considerably lighter than the listed 705 grams, and it feels quite nimble in the hand.
Recently I've set up an improvised striking dummy in my basement made of cheap rolled up door rugs (mostly jute) on an old microphone stand and weighted down with dumbbells. I usually just beat it with a wooden practice sword but occasionally I take live steel to it. I'm not a very good cutter so I'm happy when I make a decent slice through the outer of layer of rug. A particularly good strike (for me) might cut through a couple of layers.
Curious to see what the Sirupate would do, I decided to start out with a quick No. 1 and 2 kali-style combination. It was kind of casual, I wasn't trying to put a lot of umph into it. The blade made long cuts penetrating four layers of rug and a triangular section of the outer rug was left flapping out. The kukri disemboweled my striking dummy!
A few more strikes produced similar results and my dummy had to be rebuilt. My best cutter otherwise is my Condor kukri machete. Try as I might, I can't get nearly the same results with it.
So now I'm wondering why. Is it the Sirupate's sharpness? Edge geometry? Length? Basic blade design? I'm not sure, but, man, it goes through jute like butter.
