With my workspace being setup in the near future, I'm getting around to a couple of projects that I've put off for years. One of those is to finish out a "Lady Vivamus" blade that I acquired through an Albion spring cleaning type of sale. Lady Vivamus: www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AL3I would like to keep the overall construction similar in style, with some concessions for my skill level and tool restriction. But one thing I'd like to get as close to as possible is the guard. However, I've looked for historic guard thicknesses, or at least the thickest portion of this style of guard, but haven't been able to find anything. Eyeballing it, I'm guessing it's around 1/8th inch at it's thickest, with some tapering towards the ends. If anyone has a sword of this style, could you shoot a thickness measurement my way? I would greatly appreciate it.

The edge of the guard on my cold steel hybrid cutlass is 1/16 inch wide. It’s also a “lipped” edge so the rest of the guard is probably around half that thickness.

Maybe PM Dave Kelly here or on FB. I believe he still has an original.
