So this is a "spinoff" of the original thread? Same cast of characters?

Its a shame Thor left us so soon... the fun we could have had is incalculable.

"...if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." Luke 22:36
"Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." Jer. 6:16
I was hoping for something more sinister and my style.
Tastes like Skittles, but upon ingestion turns you into cannibal zombie after a week long agonizing death. You see, the nasty stuff in the forest is actually good for you while the pleasant appearing things are hellish horror. Call it "The Forest Of The Opposite" with example being ugly women are actually lovely and kind while the babes become hideous and murderous upon engaging in intimate relations.

So basically like any food?

UPDATE: The very dark nights in the forest, I am always visited by monster girls who want a quick "rendezvous".
Needless to say, I haven't been able to get any work done.
But I was able to purchase a magic torch from a mysterious merchant who stumbled upon my campsite.
I will let you know how it goes when the merchant returns with it.
I fear that I might be too late to find angrythor alive but perhaps I can at least find his remains and bring his family closure.
I've always been suspicious of those "merchants" who set-up shops in dungeons, dark forests, and abandoned castles.

Yeah, like the stuff that should be flavorful like strawberries tasting like poo and, well, poo tasting like chocolate fudge, although I guess we might have to color coordinate, so whatever tastes terrible and is strawberry colored (perhaps rotting flesh ).

So is the rotting flesh actually rotting flesh and just tastes like strawberries? Or is it not exactly rotting flesh, like an illusion?
Yup, the rotting flesh would taste like strawberries or sweet cherries. Gulp.

Well this is confusing. Cherries are good and good for you. Brussel sprouts are bad but good for you. Chili cheese fries are good but not good for you. MRE's are bad and bad for you. So in the forest are how does all this work out? Does the food in the forest change according to the eater's subjective tastes or is it constantly good or bad based on the nutritional value of the food?

Well one thing is for sure, Seth, I have a lot to worry about in this forest.
I think I will just continue to eat what the girls bring me each visit, The Salamander makes an incredible fish and chips!
You know. I may have to change my vote on the Monster Girl thread based on that fact alone.

I was thinking of updating some of the threads to also incorporate more of the culture of the creatures including foods(dishes) for the intelligent races.
A good idea. Those things affect the perception of the creatures and makes them come alive. My post is only half a joke. A person's personality plays a huge role in overall attractiveness.

Angrythor is the name of the now mysteriously missing poster who asked us for advice on the best sword to protect him from the "wild animals" of unknown origin.
He has never returned ...I was asked to search for any sign that he is still alive and well..
Yup, the rotting flesh would taste like strawberries or sweet cherries. Gulp.
MRE's are bad and bad for you.
Any wizard who could make MRE's a meal of choice would have to be frighteningly powerful.

Darn, I trained for the Third World War, but what I got was War in the Third World. "Specialization is for insects" -- Robert A. Heinlein “Do not draw, do not force others to draw. Do not cut, do not force others to cut. Do not kill, do not be killed. Even if one encounters the greatest of sinners, one should kindly offer sermon and show them the path of good men. If the worst occurs and they do not conform, then without hesitation apply kesagiri and send them to Buddha.”
So, being a forum newbie this is my first exposure to angrythor. THANK YOU for linking to the original post. I am feeling under the weather today but that cheered me up immensely.
I consider that single-posting hero an unknown master of performance art. His one paragraph narative was more engaging than most modern "literature".
nerdthenord: Hi, I'm still alive. Doing well again all things considered

mrstabby: Mine gets pressed to the top as well, but that way the tip gets ground of, don't like that either. Unfortunately I'm an edge-perfectionist. Also one wrong move when unsheathing and the throat nicks the edge on either side.

AndiTheBarvarian: Perhaps I've got one from the batch for Matt Easton ?!?

AndiTheBarvarian: When I draw the saber it's automatically pressed with the spine to the scabbard so there's space for the edge to not touch the scabbard. When the false edge starts it's released but can be carefully draw completely without touching the scabbard.

AndiTheBarvarian: Too little gap for a needle, so also I see no way to get the glue in.
Mar 31, 2024 8:02:34 GMT
mrstabby: I was easily able to poke through the glue on all of my Windlass swords/daggers, then it just seems to wick in forever, it never was thick. I can't imagine how there isn't any dulling though, unless yours is less wide or the scabbard is bigger.

AndiTheBarvarian: There's not really an opening on mine, very good fit of guard and blade and some glue or epoxy in it. Since my scabbard doesn't dull the edge too I seem to be on the lucky side with Windlass this time.
Mar 31, 2024 1:25:54 GMT
mrstabby: Maybe it screams in pain now, but I like it..
Mar 30, 2024 20:35:26 GMT
mrstabby: PSA: Give your Windlass swords some superglue, they appreciate it. My 1796 drank 4g through the opening between guard and blade, now it rings much louder and vibrates much less.
Mar 30, 2024 20:34:25 GMT
AndiTheBarvarian: Not easy to smell without a nose...
Mar 30, 2024 3:17:59 GMT
mrstabby: "Sorry Mr. Johnson, I need to store my sword for a few hundread years until someone worthy comes and gets it, mind if I stick it here?"
Mar 29, 2024 18:54:11 GMT
*
AndiTheBarvarian: First you have to try getting it into!
Mar 29, 2024 14:52:50 GMT

mrstabby: What now, pulling a sword out of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? Intriguing!
Mar 29, 2024 12:49:08 GMT
AndiTheBarvarian: Dwayne Johnson disagrees!
Mar 28, 2024 19:38:14 GMT
rschuch: As anyone who's seen Excalibur knows, getting the sword INTO the rock isn't the problem, it's getting it back out again.
Mar 28, 2024 19:13:13 GMT
durinnmcfurren: Movie turned out better than it had any right to be considering how many times a blade was shoved into rock. Yes, even once would be too much, but it was way more than once.
Mar 16, 2024 22:36:55 GMT
Ramses1079: Yeah me too, which is a shame because he’s a good author. I guess that’s like when your favorite band releases a new album, and there’s always one or two tracks that you’re like “what were they thinking?”
