I am considering buying this book (European Arms and Armour - From the Renaissance to the Industrial Revolution). Has anyone read it? I heard that Oakeshott books on medieval swords are quite good and trustworthy, but I couldn't find much about his expertise and knowledge on later swords.

Welcome aboard.
It is more an overview than more specifically in depth. I picked up a copy last year and found it a good addition. It fills some gaps in my knowledge, while leaving me wanting more details. All in all, a darn good reference. With paperback editions under $20, it is a fantastic buy.
Cheers GC

Thank you. Great! A good overview is exactly what I was looking for. I am especially interested in italian sabers and rapiers, but for that in particular I have my eyes on two italian books, that are for now out of my price range.
