Just won this dha on an ebay auction. Does anyone have any extra info on it like age or value? Will upload more pics when I get it

Congratulations on your win. Sorry, I have no information to give. Sounds like Timo’s department. Blade broken?

Congratulations on your win. Sorry, I have no information to give. Sounds like Timo’s department. Blade broken? I don’t think it’s broken, I believe that style is called Kachin dha. Either way I got it for a good price, unless it’s a tourist piece

Doesn't look like a typical tourist dha to me. They often have sideways "S" shapes on the blade. I'll be curious to see what a real expert says. Congrats on your win! I just picked up a silver story dha recently on eBay myself. I love dhas...no idea why, but I do.

Burmese, probably Kachin. Probably late 20th century, judging by the brass handle imitating the appearance of older wire-wrapped handles, like the one on this: dharesearch.bowditch.us/C0034.htm

Is there a difference between Burmese and Thai swords other than the names? They look too similar to me.

Not really any fundamental difference, just minor style differences. The biggest variation is the long-handled polearm-dha (mostly from Vietnam and nearby parts of Thailand).
There are differences between modern tourist-market swords and older ones - older blades are often inserted-edge or sanmei construction, and/or differentially-hardened.
