Angus Trim is undisputedly a legendary figure in the sword industry and community, known for crafting performance-oriented swords inspired by high-late medieval surviving examples and artwork.
This Elmslie type F3e falchion from "Gus" Trim features 3 clip points on the spine of the blade, with the thickness tapers drastically from 6.5mm at the base to 2.5mm at the 2nd clip-point (60% of the length), and remains so for the remainder of the blade. The profile features a different width for each of the 4 segments divided by the clip points. The result is THE liveliest single-handed sword I have ever handled. With a blade length of 31.5" (80cm) but only weighs 2lbs 0.5oz (920g). The grip's geometry is exceedingly ergonomic and comfortable, with French-blue leather on top of cord wrapping. Extremely easy to manage the edge alignment. Flows like a butterfly, cuts like a straight razor, and rings like wind chimes!
This particular style of falchions are featured heavily in a 15th century French translation of Speculum Historiale manuscript, depicted to be used primarily by noble figures and their retainers. The blade profile also follows closely a surviving example now housed at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This one is THE best handling single-handed sword now in my possession. A most wonderful acquisition, comes with the most glowing recommendation to any sword collector, practitioner of any martial principle, and cutting enthusiast.
Optimal applications of this sword include but not limited to:
-taken to a cutting tournament to sign up for the competition;
-given to the champion of a tournament as the reward;
-"practice" cutting and forms with, and feel good about yourself
