What you guys are saying would best be left to PMs. Keep this thread clear for data.

During the noon news they stated we now have much vaccine in country and it’s beginning stock pile as the anti-vaxxers are now beginning to make themselves known. The government’s answer is that shortly in order to enter a bus, restaurant, taxi, etc. one must present their shot card. It hasn’t been enacted yet but will be soon.

They’ve started doing that in some cities in the states. I think New York is one. Bill de Blasio (mayor of New York) was on one of the morning news shows this morning and I think he was talking about that. I came in during the middle of the segment so didn’t catch everything. Edit: And it’s good to hear about anti vaxxers in other countries. Nice to know not all the idiots are in the states. 😏

And I don't really get why this type of demeaning language is allowed.
Seems political and a huge turn off for vast segments of potential board users.
Not everyone is Jenny McCarthy. Some people physically cannot get it because of extreme past vaccine reactions.
There are many valid reasons to not get the shot. Avoiding labels is a good and intelligent thing to do.
If you can label a whole group with some term "antivaxxxxxxers" you can dehumanize them. (seriously, why so many Xs?)

As the title of this thread states Data aka fact(s). There was a prior thread that turned into a discussion and got out of control and was trashed because of such. That thread was intended to be factual and went astray. This was started to replace that one. Any facts that you have to offer in regards to COVID-19 are welcomed. But post your opinions elsewhere.
As for my post it would have been better worded as: During the noon news they stated we now have much vaccine in country and it’s beginning stock pile as the anti-vaxxers are now beginning to make themselves known. The government’s answer is that shortly in order to enter a bus, restaurant, taxi, etc. one must present their shot card. It hasn’t been enacted yet but will be soon. Keeping my opinion of our latest government response to our national problem. And I have since corrected the error. FWIW I would not have censured anyone for a similar mistake.

"There are many valid reasons to not get the shot."
Can you further list some of the other reasons aside from
"Some people physically cannot get it because of extreme past vaccine reactions."
So far, in the U.S., only those under the age of twelve have not been vetted by the FDA to receive a vaccine.
There are others but I am curious as to your quantifying the reasons as many.
We are not dealing with polio or smallpox but it is history that shows us vaccines work. We did not become immune to either of those two through herd immunity alone.
As to "the passport" Some businesses are free to request it but how many "I left it at home" or "I lost it" instances make a mandate somewhat useless?
I can understand why anyone might not want to get vaccinated from a purely personal perspective but I don't necessarily agree with their choice. Nobody is going to be knocking on doors and those people not vaccinated getting bussed somewhere to get shot (sic). There are human rights and there are also social responsibilities.
Cheers GC

Actually pgandy, I think warriorpoet was talking about my response post to you when I said anti vaxxers were idiots. I realize some people can’t get the vaccine because of his stated reasons. And I also realize a lot of people don’t trust the government, especially here in the south. And with good reason considering some of the past deeds. But then there are the people that would just rather believe the internet and misinformation. But your right, this thread was started for data so we should stay within that lane.

I haven't been following this thread so forgive me if this has been discussed. A few days ago, a study came out of Israel that people who have had covid-19 are 6 times more immune than people who have only gotten the vaccine. I heard it on a financial show (Kudlow) so would be interested to know if you folks have heard anything else about this subject.

Just one small question. Why is this jab called a vaccine and not unapproved experimental emergency use mRNA gene therapy? What ever happened to truth in advertising? OOPS that was two questions.

Well, vaccination is actually "an ancient practice (dated back centuries ago) that draws on your body's own healing ability to fight diseases naturally"... (The drawing process just went into the 21st century... ) To stay on topic, France adopted the "Health Pass" obtained by being fully vaccinated (permanent) or a negative Covid test (for 48 hours duration ?) which will be effective as of next Monday. www.france24.com/en/france/20210802-france-s-covid-19-health-pass-where-it-is-mandatory-and-what-will-change-on-august-9It will be necessary for long distance travel (by train, bus, boat or plane) or to enter a restaurant, pub, coffee shop, museum, theater, sports gym, stadium, concert, hospital, mall (there's a list)... Most importantly, it will also be required for working inside these establishments (from 30th August).

Remember, don’t feed the trolls. There sure are a lot trying to derail the thread recently though. Particularly ones that insist on making uninformed opinions that are not only off topic, but extremely off base.

Since this is data, it may be on topic. Some people could use a primer on how Messenger RNA vaccines work vs viral vector vaccines.

mRNA vaccines are in research for over 30 years now, studies with humans since 2002, the leading research companies are working over an decade on them for fighting cancer and other diseases. The mRNA Covid vaccines weren't developed out of nothing. In the EU the are approved with the usual standards for vaccines. They are not a gene therapy. They work obviously, very well, but not with 100 %.

They work obviously, very well, but not with 100 %. No vaccine will, because the human immune system isn't always 100% effective either. That isn't a good reason to not use vaccines.

So, infect others and if those live, they will be six times less likely to be re-infected? I'm not sure what you mean. Nobody said we should intentionally infect others. Here's what I'm asking. I'm hearing about a lot of people getting covid-19 who have had the vaccines. I'm not hearing of anybody getting it if they have had it before. What is the data saying? The source on Larry Kudklow's show said that people who had covid are better protected than people who have had the vaccines. I am only asking if anybody else has heard this.
