Irrefutable evidence from those guys who found Saddam's nuclear weapons. Not irrefutable yet...but time will tell. If it was genetically engineered by the communist chinese gov then that may change the way vaccines are created to deal with all the mutations... As far as the guys who were looking for Saddam's WMD's... www.nti.org/gsn/article/german-intelligence-angry-over-cia-criticism-of-poor-iraqi-biological-weapons-information/The German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) “is not amused” by the reported allegations of some CIA officials that the German agency helped to contribute to the war in Iraq by providing false information on Iraq’s alleged biological weapons efforts, the DDP news agency reported yesterday

Panama is loaning us a field hospital that will handle 40 patients. It will be set up in a very nearby neighbouring town. I was wondering how we rated so high, I wasn’t aware of it but five others have previously been set up. It sounds like a good facility with five rooms, heads, electric and water supply plants, and more. The field hospital will handle emergency paediatric care to non-COVID-19 patients and administering vaccinations thereby freeing more beds in the main hospital. As I said earlier our hospitals are maxed out, over run if you will. Three cheers for Panama. We've also received a $80 million loan to pay for vaccines.

We received ½ million doses of vaccine in the last 10 days from the US so mass vaccinations begun in earnest. Hospitals and any other place possible centres have been set up and what appears to be endless lines are everywhere the rains are not hampering anyone. Some have been in line since midnight. Before only a few doses have trickled in so lines were at a minimum and the area clinics were sufficient. I was one of the lucky ones and received mine early. The President and First Lady got theirs Friday, which surprised me. I thought with his importance and power he would have pulled rank and would receive theirs early. I see that the rest of the world is having an increase in cases while in Latin America there is a decrease, at least for the moment.

In Germany (84 mio.) about 60 % are vaccinated and 45 % twice. 4th wave is starting, we'll see whether it hurts just like a cold (we hope) or hospital/icu cases rise also. I'm thinking about an Omega variant...

Here in the US the people getting the delta variant are overwhelmingly non vaccinated. Something like 97-98%. Southern states are among the least vaccinated, big surprise. I live in Georgia btw and have both shots. Another big group not getting vaccinated are young people. Well, thinning of the head. Good luck out there.

Yeah, most of the vulnerable people here have their both shots, me too. Delta is spreading here also. It's possible to get it with full vaccination, but probably not with heavy illness. The younger probably will get it all but also without heavy illness in general. But even the younger or vaccinated will have some seriously ill cases. So it's still important to level down the spreading to avoid hospital overload.

Wont affect younger fit people like older with underlying conditions, so no thinning. Vaccinating children is kind of crazy because the numbers just don't bear that out. Delta is more infectious but less deadly. I got one shot J & J, as I'm not afraid of getting Delta but getting so ill as to needing ventilator or dying.

Agree, and there will always be some number of young or vaccinated who get serious illness or even death (as in many things) but don't believe we will see hospital overload close to what we witnessed in spring of 2020. I guess we would have to define "young" because you have so many classifications. I would personally never consider the shot for anyone healthy and under 18. The older you get, the more tricky the decision. If I were younger I sure wouldn't act like there wasn't a pandemic out there, and I still would try to avoid getting Covid. If you are vaccinated...it's OVER, in the future just let your immune system handle it. No more masks ever.

While the very young may not have as serious issues with the COVID as the older they can spread the virus infecting others. As for the mask, that seems to be more for protecting others than the user. As for being over if vaccinated; the vaccinations are proving not 100% effective but largely so, 95%? Just my 2¢.

I know what you are saying and think that because the vaccine is widely available in the states (Costa Rica or other nations can be a somewhat different matter) people have been given fair time and warning, so vaccinating children SHOULD NOT BE DONE TO PROTECT THE NON-VACCINATED. I realize there a the few who are immune compromised and cannot have the vaccine, but the number is small compared to society as a whole, and additional measures for them can still be taken without subjecting children to the jab. Also, I SHALL NOT WEAR A MASK TO PROTECT THE NON_VACCINATED! They made their decision. Death and serious illness are almost non existent in the vaccinated, so no more masks.

I get that some disagree with me, which is why I'm shouting....AHHHHHHH! I'm not in the school system, (and would wear a mask if told) and I actually agree with most of this CDC info, but the part I disagree with is also shared by much of the school system, the part vaccinating children under 12. And who made the CDC God anyway? If they say that ALL the children must be vaccinated if it saved but one life, why can't you or I have a differing opinion on the matter, as the numbers are staggeringly clear regarding such low severe illness and mortality in young healthy children. Sorry, but no kids are gonna die if I don't wear a mask, and those who chose not to vaccinate (while I respect their choice)...I AIN'T WEARING NO MASK BECAUSE OF THEIR CHOICE.

I had started this thread to replace the removed discussion regarding covid. The intent was to share data, not moralize.

With ½ million doses of vaccine arriving last week and ¼ million this week the country is now administering the vaccine in earnest, unlike the earlier part of the year when we were receiving it is dribs and dabs, token shipments if you will. And the populace is busting butt to get a shot. This began Saturday with lines everywhere some exceeding a km. This is with standing people not cars. Yesterday Hazel went for hers. She arrived at 05:00 and 300 people were already in front of her, many of those had spent the night. 8 hours later her, about 13:00, her turn came. To make it worse the rains came about mid-morning. She’s scheduled for the second shot in October. Speaking of rain, it’s rainy season and we have had our traditional rain flooding the flats. In addition several storm fronts have moved through recently. From what I saw on the news last night what Dandelion showed is minor to here. It’s bad and to add salt to the wound the rains started in my area about mid-morning yesterday and have continued non-stop and are predicted to do so through Sunday night. The prediction through Friday is mostly constant rain with a brief let up each day starting Monday. We’re pretty lucky here in the mountains. Our main worry is mud slides but those poor people below will not only get their share but our run off. Not a good scene.
