Good lore--since they are amphibious do they live under water or on land or both? They likely would need some facilities on land to forge weapons, no? Do they have some special treatment for weapons and armor to avoid rust?
Do they have magical fire powers? I always found it fascinating that mythological salamanders, despite being so aquatic were described as having elemental fire powers.

But the idea of the fire element is very interesting, I think I have an idea for it that would be cool but probably a lot different then you are thinking. A lot more Morbid if you will. I look forward to it. In the legends, it seems like salamanders' fire properties are uncontrollable infernos. I took a trip to Guam and Saipan once, sites of WWII battles. We did some snorkeling, and there were warnings about picking up objects found underwater. A lot of white phosphorous (willy pete) was used. Underwater, it is inert, but when exposed to air, it ignites. Apparently people have been hurt by collecting artifacts underwater and then emerging from the water. The legends of salamanders reminded me of that.

I was hoping, with using the word salamander, they would be fire related.
Good regardless tho. But you should make some fire salamanders š

I have done more research and I have the following to consider before truly publishing it. There was always something that puzzled me about this group.. Ā TheĀ interesting thing to note is that they are relatively left alone despite being in an environment with extremely dangerous entities, maybe there is something they know that we don't... Maybe they fearĀ the firestorm/napalm like self-immolating explosion upon a last stand.... Just rumors... so farĀ
Now that's what I like hearing š that's some complex lore. I am a bit lost though, are you writing a book? Or is this some sort of campaign? I have been gone a while

I have been gone a while Just brainstorming, was thinking of writing a book or plausible campaign of some sort. Brainstormed a more biologically plausible form of dragon once, than a fire- breather. If they turned tail on you, it wasn't to run. Perhaps your salamanders are similar. Do they moon you as a threat display?
