How did you get the surface/patina on your tsuba? Looks really nice and traditional.

How did you get the surface/patina on your tsuba? Looks really nice and traditional. the Higo tsuba is done by texturing the steel prior to patina and then keeping the patina smooth by brushing it with steel brush. the sakura is done by brushing a bit less and cooking it a bit longer in the hydrogen peroxide . for the process of the patination see cottontail custom rust patina tutorial . this patina is not traditional but gives very good results and in one day. the finished product is black and almost shiny but lacks the chocolate hue of a traditional patina

Thanks. I'll have to check that out. FWIW, I've seen not only chocolate brown but grey-black rust patina on antiques too.
