Your cuts are not passing through the centre line. This leaves your head very uncovered. The trajectory of your cuts are also curved - poor edge alignment If you refer to the rough drawing i have, left is what youre doing, with the lines showing your cut's path. The sketch on the right is what id rather you do instead. With the cuts passing very close to your buckler

You're in the deepest end of the HEMA pool for sure! Getting the sword and buckler to work together takes a ton of practice and hurts the brain quite a bit. And that's with coaching and weekly practice. If I had it to do over again, I would have started with messer and worked up to I.33 instead of the other way around. The I.33 source is notoriously cryptic and difficult to interpret, with no consensus at present on what much of it means. I'd suggest focusing on the classic messer positions and fundamentals of footwork and cutting. www.wiktenauer.com/wiki/Johannes_Leck%C3%BCchner

I’m not sure this is gonna work so well as a start so I’ve actually been talking to people about so called “common fencing” instead, which apparently just the basics of footwork and cuts, which these more complex master systems were designed to counter.
