Brother, I think I'd rather see the guard horn quillons facing the other side to best catch the opponents blade.
Yes so this was more of a concept bowie, trying to mimic the aesthetic of the original Dundee bowie.
Otherwise I would have designed the guard differently , I would have also made it larger.
I can make a whole thread about my concept of fighting knife guards, suffice to say that I mainly think guards on fighting knives would either need to be significantly larger then is normally done and/or they should be forward facing "Horns" like the Bagwell bowies.
D-guards are also good.
I believe most cruciform type guards are far too narrow width-wise to be of true use as an actual guard.
Brother, at over 2lbs. that think can probably do some major woodwork (chopping, baton, etc...). Robust is an understatement with that monster.
It's an absolute tank! 0.4 inch thick at the guard! I wished you could have witnessed the "thunk" that sounded when I tested it against a 4x4 old cutting stand. Would absolutely split wood easy especially with it's design. The sharpened clip may chew up the baton a bit though.

carbon: Sharpened one of my C/S H&H swords for the first time using an adjustable fixture I made. Went from a little better than butter knife to an even, polished, paper slicing edge. It's a slow process but it does work.
