Hello I am looking for a good solid machete and I am confused to look at between a Cold Steel Machete like the Kukri Magnum Machete or a Condor Knife and Tool series. Do you have any suggestions? Its mostly since I am trying to get myself a better educated choice. From, Sebastians Sire

I bought an assortment pack of South American military issue machetes from Sportsmans Guide for $20 a few years ago. It had 5 blades of various shapes and brands like Incolma, Condor, JK, etc. Very sturdy. 1,000% better than any hardware store machetes I've had.
My advice is to go surplus and get better machetes at cheaper prices.

Made in El Salvador (I like the Bolo design best) and sold in U.S. with great convex grinds, complete with fantastic sheaths & sharpening stones that are worth as much as the machete. Ontario are also very good.

Regarding the OP, I have several CS machetes and they live up to CS’s good reputation. I have a Condor, no machete, and it’s well made. But I don’t think you’ll beat a deal like Sebastian presented from Amazon. I have three machetes out of Colombia by Bollota that are great. I think none cost me over 6 USD. My last one was <5 USD and is my favourite of all I have. If I was in the market and lived in the States Amazon would already have my order.
PS The reviews are the first I’ve seen with no one star rating. It might be wise to read the reviews before ordering. I did and I’d still order.

The Condor machetes are typically heavier with a higher level of fit and finish and a corresponding higher cost.
I recommend the Machete Specialists website.

Really depend what your needs are. Some are good for reach. Power. Precision. Ease of carry. 2 handed swings. Light brush. Logs and thick branches. Handguard needed? An all around machete is just that....ok for everything.....good for nothing.
