So to make up for my utter disappointment with the Black Ops Cold War Beta,, I’ve been looking into real life tacticool stuff from the Cold War. The Colt 651 specifically stood out to me as something that seems odd at first but has rapidly grown on me. Basically, it was designed roughly around 1973 (definitely correct me if I’m wrong) as the next step in the CAR-15 program, after the XM177E2. It was in essence an M16A1 with a 14.5” barrel and carbine gas system with CAR-15 single heat shield round handguards. The combination of a rifle length buffer assembly with a carbine length gas system may seem odd, but apparently it actually worked very well and made full auto bursts very controllable. I’ve heard anecdotal stories of it being used by US Army Rangers in the 1970s and 80s in Europe but couldn’t confirm, and it’s unclear if one was ever fired in combat. Still a very cool bit of history and something to consider for a retro build.

Nice acquisition. Isn't there someone making copies of the old ArmaLite AR 180?

I guess that KelTec is unaware that that's notably an Ayurvedic practice done by hardcore, usually non-violent, Hindu yogic types (Mahatma Gandhi and Moraji Desai were among them), few of whom would be in the market for firearms, NOT something practiced by hardcore snake-eaters (except, perhaps, the extremely kinky).

Someone once said that a public swimming pool is a combination of urine therapy and homeopathy! And this is a retro tacticool firearm: Germany 16th Cent.

The carbine gas system did work fine with the rifle buffer (mine had an A2 stock).

So Cold War is now "retro"? I guess I'm that many years old now.
