Looks all business like. Would certainly get the job done.

But what's the job for a "Brutus Sword" ? Assassination, suicide?? Questionable advertising strategy.

18" and 1 lbs 12 oz. Looks reasonably handy.

That „Brutus“ looks interesting. I have an APOC Yataghan, which I’m pretty fond of. Simple yet refined, ultra durable, perfect full flat grind, came super sharp yet it's not too fragile at the edge and tip. Handles like a big knife, very maneuverable though it strikes with authority. Not too light nor too heavy. Slight distal taper. Great grip, excellent blade shape, perfect balance. Very nice.

I've been looking at that because I love the yataghan shape, wish it was like a 30" blade, a full on yataghan sword, but the length it's at now it cool too for a knife or tool.

That yataghan shape has something going for it. I didn't think I'd like it that much. They definitely did a great job with the yataghan.

This seems like a good place to ask. A few years back, I bought an APOC Cutlass, and it came coated in an obnoxious dirty black malodorous oil. This substance was so unpleasant and such a chore to remove that it has deterred me from any further APOC purchases.
Do they still come that way?

Glad to see some discussion here about the yatagan; been eyeing that one, myself, but couldn't decide where to ask. (Other Asian Swords? Tactical Swords?)
Only thing really putting me off is that it is incredibly short. 7-10 more inches and I'd go $50 more happily. But it's just so small...
No experience, or really interest, in the rest of the line.

The one I got may have been a return at some time (although flawless). There was a tiny bit of dark grease at the very edge, but not much.

I can see where you’re coming from. I think the length has its merits, though. Pretty long for a blade that feels like a knife when put in motion, long enough to parry with. Short enough to strike from under a doorway. Uh, yeah, tactical
Read that Col. Marey script a few years ago. He loved the yataghan and thought of it as the perfect infantry sword.

Most yatagans were around 24" from what I've seen, though they get both longer and shorter. I've been watching one for years that's 27" and there's a handful floating around eBay at 20", but 17" just seems so small. Actual yatagans are nifty swords, though I concede I know little about them.

This looks to be a copy of the AT Tactical Gladius from years ago, and aptly named as the Brutus. Short, brutal, efficient, no doubt I'll try one of these out when KOA picks them up. I've been impressed with most of the ATrim-inspired A.P.O.C. swords so far, though QC has been pretty spotty (depending on the vendor).

None of them is as agile as the APOC yataghan. None of them stabs as well, either.

None of them stabs as well, either. Probably because it is so small, it seems to also have much less curve to it than the typical yatagan. A handful I've seen have been completely straight, but most go from almost kukri-like angular curvature (with a sort of "corner" at the apex) to an even crescent shape. I imagine stabbing can be done, but lining up the hilt would be tricky.

Yeah which is partly why I ended up having a yataghan made as I was on the fence about the APOC one but it was just too short for my tastes, now at 24" the blade on mine feels nice, it is very lively in the hand.

Yours is fantastic. I'm envious.
Back to the Brutus...

From a drive in 2008. There was no description as to the origin. Short of a 30" blade but maybe longer than some bayonets. It may be an 1860 Martini blade base (22" ?) There are long Balkan knives that approach the form of the APOC and it is the small grip ears that kind of typify the Black Sea area. The huge ear type the older fashion of the southern territories. Cheers GC
