so, any updates to folks doomsday loadouts? My bro and I were just doing a photo shoot in the backyard and I thought I’d share and compare. As y’all can see, he went with more practice while I decided if I’m gonna do an apocalypse kit I’ve gotta really look the part. Honestly, I can still move and probably fight in this kit even if the jacket with the sleeves cut off provides no practical advantage. It still looks freakin cool though lol. (guns are cleared, unloaded, on safe, and pointed in a “safe” direction with fingers off the trigger) Attachments:

Nice FAL. Not a bad gun at all, but I prefer my 16” AR carbine. I like being able to fire rapidly and stay in target, and the weight doesn’t hurt, while my brother likes his FAL the best for slower, more powerful shots. That’s a CX4 Storm 9mm carbine in the pic though.

That’s a CX4 Storm 9mm carbine in the pic though. By the by, it is a Stg58(Austrian copy under license from FN). In a true apocalypse situation, the battle rifle will rule. Right after after hard cover, distance / reach is your next best friend in a a free fire zone gunfight and the 7.62 NATO round will reach out and touch someone very effectively at 400 yrds. ! The carbine (M4/M1) is my preference for the urban riot/insurrection setting, here is the kit I will use if the fascist / leftists want to engage in urban combat in the future. Eagle CIRAS LE carrier with Velocity Systems level IIIA BALCS soft armor inserts and level III SAPI rifle plates. For the apocalypse scenario; same kit but swap out the M4 carbine for the Stg58 and swap the level III SAPI plates for level IV ESAPI plates.

Finding the right size is a bit difficult for me though.

I'd ditch the GI flashlight and get an LED headlamp with red and white options. Those old GI things are heavy and dim.

Someone said they have a dragon problem? You could borrow one of Lord Newport's tanks.

Someone said they have a dragon problem? You could borrow one of Lord Newport's tanks. Know what is funny? That’s literally the basis. I’m doing a Van Zan cosplay for Halloween and the con season hopefully next year, and barely modified it for a kit.

Sadly I don't have body armor At hand Folding knife Machete Hatchet All of these are light and fit well against each other. Mosin + Bayo (given the events with riots and how close some get, having a spear seems more useful than it did a few years back). Good pair of leather boots and wool coat/warm/cold apparel. And a short sabre which weighs 650 grams for good measure and for the meme. I used to do pest control on a ranch and experimented walking around muddy fields with a bunch of gear on. If I had the dosh I'd jump for an M14. A little heavier than I like but hey, they work.

Springfield M1A (semi-auto M14) is a real good pick because it's really just a hunting/sniper rifle form rather than the battle rifle which features full auto, a thing the M14 was terrible at.

I'm not sure if it violates the rules to talk about the Kenosha shooting, but I am doing so only from a combat perspective without comment on the politics (although as a lawyer I am keenly interested in the legal aspects too).
Reviewing all that footage demonstrated how a carbine with a standard capacity magazine is very useful in a multiple attacker, urban environment for close range fighting. It also showed how valuable properly slinging your weapon is. Without a sling, KR may have had his weapon taken from him. I kind of grimaced at paying $15 for a single magpul sling QD in the past, but now I am glad I did it instead of buying the cheaper kinds.

Super light, reliable, and accurate enough. I don’t have a pistol or wearable blade I trust to pull fast enough.

To me, not being a lawyer but reading the WI self defense laws, and watching the footage available it seems like he was justified in at least the shooting.
