Anyone have this sword?
Like a doof I missed 2 opportunities to grab this and now it seems they have all but disappeared!
Just curious if you own one, your impressions and experience. Maybe any trips to track one down.
Love my MC Sting! Pseudo "battle ready " is better than "breaks if you swing it at a twig" .
However I will say, when I was just getting back into swords my first uc item was theodens herugrim. In unboxing I misjudged the blade length and took a mighty cleft out of the ceiling. Held up fine, no looseness or damage (well, to the blade... The ceiling however...)

I bought one a few years ago... you need to be careful with these since some (according to online sources) have twisted blades due to poor heat treatment. I got lucky with mine, straight as an arrow. I did NOT get it when it first came out, so I do not have the display case or the COA that were in the original package, but did end up with a pristine sword from Redford Films (through eBay) after they were able to get a batch to sell. First off, the sword is built very well, but does have some drawbacks like having absolutely NO distal taper, which makes it a beast to swing around. Aside from that, United Cutlery went bankrupt during the production of the Museum Collection Glamdring swords... because they were running out of money and the fact that the heat treat company wasn't used to high carbon steel blades, some of the swords came out warped, then still assembled and sold to the public. UC acknowledged the problem, but were so much in debt that they couldn't offer replacements or fix the blades, so they sold off their rights to BudK. According to what I've read, about 1/3 to 1/2 of the Museum Collection Glamdring swords were "lost" during the production run... these are the ones that were being sold on Amazon, eBay, and other places - they're the real deal, but some of them have the warped blades. Hold the sword in hand, look at the blade along its cutting edge - is it warped along the edge? Is it misaligned with the guard? Also, hold it parallel to the floor and look at the flat part of the blade - does it "turn" to one side along its length? If it does, the blade is warped. Does that mean the sword is useless? Nope, you can still fix it by putting it in a wood jig and gently bending the sword true. You can do that yourself, or you can ask someone knowledgeable to do it for you. Hopefully, you got one (like mine) that doesn't have a warped blade. I can't provide any citations/links at the moment, but with some online research, you can find the info I'm talking about. Hope that helps. You can see a couple of reviews, one from jimmiroquai and one from me here: sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/31580sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/34728

I don't have one yet, and it looks like if I ever do I almost surely won't get a chance to inspect until after purchase. It's a bummer to be so close, the one in the classifieds even had a scabbard! But, I'm happy for whoever got it . I'd be getting it to replace the regular uc model in my LOTR section, surrounding an aged map of the lonely mountain.

I have one and absolutely love it. Finally picked up a scabbard for it about a month ago. No tips, other than checking eBay every day until it pops up. Then be prepared to pay. The last several I saw sold for 1000-1400. I think the one on here must have been a fake. They were asking $400...I think even with a scabbard. I paid $450 just for the scabbard, and that was cheap. And I paid about $1,100 for the blade, which is about average. The last two blue scabbards I saw sold for over $600. So...unless it was heavily damaged, that was insane selling it for that. I would have bought it had I seen it in time, just to resell it for triple that. But let me know if you have any questions!

I believe the one listed was in good condition. My guess is the seller bought both pieces back when UC was still making them. The MC Glamdring without box sold for $400 to $500. The scabbard, during some clearance sales, went down to $100. So if the seller bought them at their lowest and did not care to make a profit, but just pass it own to a fellow collector - then the selling price still makes sense.

Well someone got a heck of a deal! A little jealous of that when I spent about $1500 total. But that is the norm right now for sword and scabbard!

If I didn't already have an MC Glamdring, I would have picked it up immediately lol.
