Hello! I know next to nothing about swords or where to buy them, but I'm trying to get a nice gift for my boyfriend and he's super into them. He's mentioned that it would be cool to have flamberge longsword, and I wanted to know where I could buy one that would be good? I know about Albion because he's talked about their swords and has a messer from them, but I checked and they don't carry this kind of sword. I don't know how common it is, but was looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I don't know where to buy swords that are of good quality. I'd prefer to not spend more than 600 dollars but if it's a bit over that's totally fine. Thank you so much!

Welcome!
My, that's a rare beast you're hunting. Lutel used to offer several IMO attractive versions of such a thing, but they closed down some time ago. (There's a website by that name still in operation, but stay away from that one! It's a long running scam operation, IIRC set up by their former webmaster, that will take your money but may or may not deliver anything, seemingly at random.) Not sure where you'd find a good, functional one in the production market these days; my gut feeling is that you'd probably have to have it custom made.

Ah he didn't make it easy on me to get him a sword I see haha. I'm okay with getting to custom I'd probably spend a bit more I'm assuming but that's okay. Any suggestions on a good place to get it custom? Or should I just look for someone in my area.

Well, if you can find someone local, that would definitely simplify things like shipping! On the other hand, it's always good to look around online and see what people say about any given maker before putting in a commission. You could take a look in the Manufacturers and Vendors forum to see what our industry professional posters have been making and offering for sale, to get a sense of their work and the prices involved. Posting a wanted ad in the Wanted Items forum might - might! - bring up something. Looking and asking around other forums and Facebook can't hurt, either. Good luck!

The large two-handers were most common, back in the day, but you can also find "flammard" blades on rapiers and other complex-hilted single-hand swords, and a few sabers as well. I think this is simply because wavy blades were almost exclusively made in 16th-17th Centuries, at a time when most swords were either large two-handers or complex-hilted one-handers. There are photos of a few historical examples in this thread over at MyArmoury (particular that photo of three really gorgeous ones on page 3). See also the possibly historical flammard longsword here (along with one of the sadly out-of-production Lutels I mentioned).
