For anyone that also collects the beautiful united cutlery lord of the rings and hobbit reproduction swords, The sword of Boromir is supposed to be re-released next month.
It, along with Eowyn's sword are quite rare and highly valued among collectors of these props often going for 700 plus on eBay.
These are not "battle ready" obviously but are more akin to art that you can hang on the wall or swing around and evoke your imagination or remind you of Tolkien's fantastic world.
I began collecting these with the "sting" sword I received as a gift a few years ago. Before that though I loved LOTR I hated "wall hangers" so never paid attention to the replicas.
What I found is that UC does a marvelous job on these. Great attention to detail, and for a couple hundred these look fantastic and whimsical on the wall.
This line made me a believer in non functional wall hangers. Now I even have a light up gandalf staff, god help me.
I still love and value awesome battle ready sword but I also love these replicas and I can't wait to grab a Boromir sword!
If anyone has an interest in LOTR sword collecting, just wanted to give a heads up.
Eowyns is also supposed to be re-released soon, along with a brand new sword. Eomers guthwine (around Dec -jan).
The ol bank account is not gonna be happy!

If anyone wanted to discuss this line or has any questions let me know.
I have:
Anduril Glamdring Museum collection sting Frodos sting (sold) Nobel collection sting (sold) Orcrist Sword of Samwise Illuminated staff of gandalf Sword of theoden Striders ranger sword Fighting knives of legolas (sold) Hadhafang
If impulse figure out pictures I'd show my set up. I have massive aged maps of middle earth, the lonely mountain with these arranged among them.
Definitely the coolest room in the house!

The ol bank account is not gonna be happy! This is great news, indeed! Thanks for sharing, warriorpoet. I, too, have been looking for the Sword of Boromir for the longest time. Kicking myself for not picking one up when they were first available at relatively decent prices. Don't totally care for the Swords of Eowyn and Eomer, unless they really wow me with details I haven't really paid attention to before. Two swords from the movies I wish they would produce are the Barrow Blades of Merry and Pippin. I don't totally blame them for not having been made, because the movies stupidly glossed over them and replaced them with their Elven daggers (even more dumb, because Merry would not have been able to harm the Witch-King without his Numenorean sword). But those two swords are pretty unique looking. I'd love to see them made. Thanks for this heads-up. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for the Sword of Boromir!

Yeah no problem!
I am most excited for Boromir's sword, but the details on "guthwine" (eomers sword) are pretty sick.
Check it out if'n you get a chance! There's a bronzed horse head encircling the base of the blade, acting as a guard.
I could see theoden, eowyn and eomers swords making a great Rohan display.
I'd like to pick up the legolas knives again someday too. They were pretty good.
My unicorn is a museum collection glamdring sword!

For what it's worth, budk purchased UC I think? Or at least this line.
If you go to budk.com it shows the sword of Boromir expected in stock in September.
Also coming soon is the Horn of Gondor!
And get this... it IS functional!!
Gonna have wayy too much fun with that... I think it's gonna be around a hundo.

Yes, yes i do want to talk about LOTR swords haha. UC went bankrupt, and BudK bought them out years ago. That is also why the swords moved from being made in Taiwan to China. I bought the Boromir sword back in the day, but gave it to my little brother being his favourite character. No regrets, but every time i see it, I feel like buying one for myself haha. I'll definitely be buying one of the newer releases. I'll also need to pick up the rerelease of Gimli's Bearded Axe. As for the newer items - i'll be grabbing Eomer's Guthwine as well as the Horn of Gondor! They also have Eomer's helm and spear in the works There was a poll done on the UC FB page as to what people wanted to see next. I believe it was Faramir's sword first, then second was a tie between Sauron's sword and the Barrow Blades.

Man, barrow blades would be amazing (and I wish they were barrow blades in the films!).
But still neat designs, and technically, the reissued sword of samwise would be a barrow blade right?
I picked that one up a few months back, it's pretty cheap and really nicely done! Came with quite an edge on it.
Totally forgot about gimlis axe. I'm running out of wallspace lol. I may pick it up and give it to my dad!
A spear would be cool. Super pumped for the horn of Gondor and Boromir sword.
Merry and pippins Elvin daggers would be neat too.
My advice is if you love swords and LOTR but are hung up on "functional" aspects, don't be. 99% of the time if you're honest, your sword probably lives on the wall /display /stored away etc.
These are really well done and make me feel like a kid again!

Yup, Sam's sword is a Barrow Blade - i think the only one that gets decent screen time too lol. But they're small, shouldn't be difficult for UC to make them. I think they still need to make SOMETHING for Merry and Pippin. They're the only Fellowship members that have no replicas out yet...
I've always loved the LOTR swords. I think they have a perfect combination of realism and fantasy. So they could be functional designs, but yet different enough to stand out from the crowd.

Yeah the LOTR designs are really top notch.
I wasn't too wild about the arms and armor in the hobbit films.
They seem to have abandoned reason for madness, and from a functional sense don't really make sense (spear headed axes and odd angles etc).
And thrain looked like Dr evil.
But somehow I can still appreciate them even so rushed and going for the whimsy I guess.

Well the one thing i'm scared of is when the TV show comes out.... that might mean a LOT more sword replicas i *have* to buy lol. I'm guessing UC might have the first go at the licensing - and seeing how they now produce "functional" Euro swords - there's hope for a future functional movie prop collection! \

Ah I totally forgot about amazon's show.
Man I hope they don't mess this up.. For all their faults PJ did capture a certain "essence" from that world imo.
Hopefully free of temporal politics etc.
My concern is maybe lack of clear source material. The six films we have shine brightest when pulling dialogue directly from the books. They can fall flat when experimenting.
I've read the silmarilion two or three times. Man, that would tough to adapt!

Oh man, I noticed today...
Budk is showing the horn of Gondor, eomers guthwine and helm...
Still no eowyn sword..
Looks like the Boromir sword will still drop first this month.
Pretty pumped not gonna lie!

Can't remember where i saw this (UCForums or FB), but :
September - Boromir's. October - Eowyn's. November - Sauron's Gauntlet. January - Eomer Sword, Eomer Helm, Gondor Horn. I remembered it: Basically the re-releases one / month; then all the new stuff in the New Year lol.
Also, the Eomer Helm is LE to 1500 pieces as per Kit Rae.

I had set up for email alerts for when this was available. Was getting worried, because the month was almost over, and no alert yet. Decided to check the site anyway, and there it was. So much for their email alerts, I guess.
I'm the type that, having missed out on this sword the first time it was available, I'm afraid it will sell out quickly. So, after work tonight, I'll be placing my order. Really wish it wasn't a stainless steel blade, but oh well.
Hope you like yours, Warriorpoet!

It's my favorite of the uc line!
The leather smells amazing, the other models don't have that?
The seem and blade stamping are correctly on the same side (a big complaint of the reissued herugrim). So you can display it "clean", no stitching or markings facing out.
Gorgeous display plaque.
I wish it was battle ready too. It is tempered stainless and constructed well for swinging around. Feels sturdy and balances well.
I have much better choices for defense obviously lol, but if someone burst in to do harm and I was standing next to this I wouldn't feel unarmed.
Dull false edged, but man is that point wicked!
The pommel is huge too.
I have the strongblade deathbringer and now the uc Boromir and they really don't share much in common, in either looks or handling.
I'd like to try the Windlass mercenary someday, maybe the best I could do for an affordable usable Boromir.
FYI: comparing it to various other swords, it actually has much in common with the windlass Arbedo!
Similar sized handle and guard, similar thicker shorter blade.theh handle fairly similarly.
But yes, I feel lucky to have picked this up about 228 all told with shipping.
Price for a replica yes, but Boromir is my favorite character and it is well made. Who knows how long this reemergence of LOTR steel will last. The final film was out almost 2 decades ago and Amazon may rewrite in the popular Zeitgeist what LOTR means. Who knows.
It's really awesome though and I hope to grab eowyns sword and guthwine as well when available.
The uc line seems to hold it's value and if you like the films and books it's a no brainer.

Oh forgot to add, I too had signed up for email notifications and didn't receive any!
I saw it was in stock around 10 am, and I thought sweet, when I'm on lunch break I should order one!
By lunch it showed out of stock!
Bummed, I emailed them and vowed to check back now and then. At my 3pm break not expecting anything I reloaded the page and it showed back in stock.
Quickly ordered and emailed budk to make sure they really had one.
Their CS replied with a tracking number! Order shipped same day and arrived yesterday.

Thanks for the info, Warriorpoet. Good to know. Interesting that you compare Boromir's Sword to the Windlass Arbedo. I have that one, and its easily one of my top 3 or 5 swords. That thing is a gem! You brought up the Strongblade and Windlass versions of Boromir's Sword. When I thought the Boromir Sword was never coming back, and realized I had missed out on past opportunities to get it, I went after the Windlass Mercenary. At least I think it was the Windlass; it very well could have been the Strongblade. Whichever one it was, I did not like it. The weight and balance felt way off. It was a really heavy sword, and the blade type/shape didn't quite match the movie sword as much as I'd hoped. The pommel was not as well done. It was close to the movie in looks, but not close enough or large enough for my tastes. Perhaps worst of all was the guard. Rather than twisted like the original, it was rather segmented. It reminded me of insect antenna more than anything. It bugged me (pun intended) so much, I thought of a grasshopper when I looked at it, when I should have been thinking of LOTR. I understand it wasn't a licensed sword, so they had to make some things look different from the licensed sword. But still, it was mostly a miss for me. So, I gifted it to a friend who loved the Boromir character. I explained to her my misgivings, but she was not as hung up on them as I was. She was happy with it. In any case, your post got me worried these swords had already sold out. So, I just ordered one. Sadly, I got hit with some sales tax, so I paid more than you did. I don't live in the same state as Bud K, so I don't know why they hit me with that. But oh well, better than paying excessive prices on Ebay!
