Hi everyone, my husband and I came across the sword and we know nothing about it. It says Vittorio Emmanuel, di Italia on the handle. He ruled Italy from 1900-1946l. Thank you all in advance!

This is a gurade, similar to but not the same as a shotel. Probably Ethiopian or Eritrean, I'd say; Vittorio Emanuele III's Italy had colonial holdings there, and he claimed the title of Emperor of Ethiopia in 1936.
PS. Blades of European manufacture were not uncommon on these, though, and this might well be one.

I "knew" it wasn't a shotel, but that was the only name I could think of and Google turned up swords that were similar enough so I figured the term was broader than I thought.
Gurade, I think I've seen once or twice, and had absolutely forgotten about.
Edit: Oh, right, I'd initially responded in the other thread, not this one...
