So I recently moved, and finally got a chance to go to the antique stores around me. I've already gotten some great items (A WWI German photograph and an East German helmet), but there's one item in particular that I found that I'd love some assistance with. Having done my own research, and looking on another forum post here ( This one, someone posted a comparison of models in it), I believe it's a Model 1880, though I'm not certain. The store has it listed at $495, which seems a good price to me, but I'd love some help. I'm new to swords, and older equipment in general, for a while my focus has been on the world wars, so I'd love any assistance! These are the original images I got a few days ago, the sword in the display case and a closeup of the price tag. When I went back today I was able to take it out of the sheath, and it's in remarkable condition, though the blade seems to be slightly bent towards the end. Here's the pictures I took today. A few interesting things are the text carved into the hilt, and the tip of the sheath. There seems to be a serial number or something similar on the blade close to the hilt, but it's hard to read, and I'm not sure if it showed up on camera. So, is it what I think it is, and is it worth the price? Thanks for any help you folks can give! Attachments:

Welcome to the forum. I don’t know anything about sabers but there are many on here who do. I would suggest you post this over on the Renaissance and Military Swords board and it will get someone’s attention. Good luck.
