Welcome!
There are several posters who might be able to help, but of course we'd need to see the sword. So, you'll need to take and post some photos.
A good rule of thumb is to shoot at least one full view, and then separate close-ups of the hilt from all sides and of each marking or decorative detail; always use as much light as you can, full indirect daylight being usually best. You can upload the photos as attachments if they're under 1MB of file size each, or put them up on some image hosting site like imgur.com or imgbb.com (both can be used without creating an account if you don't wanna).

Folks posting from mobile need to switch to desktop to use the attachment feature. Overall, SBG could use a sticky in the announcement section with a comprehensive tutorial for sharing images. Aside from the forum attachment feature is sharing from photos uploaded to a third person host. Even when sharing via the forum attachment widget is if the image exceeds the limit. The ability to automatically resize images attached at SBG could be coded in (ala SFI) but we are getting beyond the scope of the basics for sharing images, using search engines, general familiarity with forums. Anyway, jmlambert, welcome aboard. I use imgur.com a lot to share images. Sign up for a free account and then share images via copy and paste bb codes, or share an entire album by posing a link. The mobile issue is a hurdle but some do attach by using the desktop mode. I have not looked for a mobile app for resizing images but I am sure they are plentiful. One general source for pc use is www.onthegosoft.com/shrink_pic.htm?referer=shrinkpicIt works seamlessly on a pc desktop, or custom parameters. To me, da bomb (and could be coded into this forum) Another random use reducer www.shrinkpictures.com/There are plenty of picture hosting sites but imgur works well for me. Some have access issues in seeing the shared images. Bottom line here, I often just offer my email if the frustration is too great. Just send me the images at gcleeton@gmail.com and I'll get them up to the board. I am rarely swamped with requests but I do get regular contacts for help with posting or just ID (which I most often send on to the experts of the moment). Cheers GC
