I recieved this two handed broadsword from a friend who found it in a small shop in Hawaii . Marked D.P.Devera Phillipines,33" of double edged carbon steel,44" overall,4lb.6oz. The balance on this is so perfect that I changed nothing of it's original shape. I engraved the handles with a celtic knot pattern and the pommel with my mark and a zoomorphic letter K for Katwood, the name of my corner of the universe. I hand carved the sheath and the belt it hangs from. Razor sharp this dragon eats wall hangers and is always ready to bite unwary flesh. The heavy knotwork on the handle provides a nonslip grip superior to any stock handle I've ever handled, even wire wraps. I have handled hundreds of swords ,This goes to the grave with me.

Truely AWESOME looking sword and scabbard... ESPECIALY the scabbard, beautiful work. The sword sounds as tho it might be a tad heavy for my taste... but it's very attractive and as long as it's well balanced and TOUGH weight can be forgiven.

I've handled this sword - it feels quick and light in the hand - aaaand is razor sharp! I've been seeking it's brother for years. *Thedann has his carvings displayed in Collections now: /index.cgi?board=collections&action=display&thread=7525 Definitely worth a lookie-loo! /

Hey Oni. As of last week there were less than 50 PC Katsumushis available. They are going slow due to low exposure. If you really want one, but are unable to secure it, maybe Jamie would let you place a deposit? Not my place to speak for him, but I would try that. The price is not negotiable since MSRP is $499.99 USD and they are leaving it at $499.99 CAD. Very cool how the hamon is raised at the effective cutting area as well as at the POB. Good luck pal.

Jonathon, I read your response to a question by "ledge" last year. he has posted photos of what you identified as a 1853-54 British Infantry Officers sword. I have an identical sword to that including flowers under the VR on the hilt and hinged guard. I have a brass scabbard with mine and the "tassle". I bought it in London in the 60's
I am curious of it's aproximate worth and the best place to market it.
thanks, Al Alexander

It's a hard decision but probably the middle one from Micael Rader named Draco. The idea for the castings were mine I wanted a dragon skull for a pommel and scales for the guard, they were carved from wax by David Blue who had them sent out for casting in bronze. The rest (handle and scabbard made from the same piece of curly maple, the blade 5160 and putting it all together was done by Michael Rader. It is easily handled by one hand but two hands makes it unstopable in a cut. The other two in the picture are from Jody Samson the top one is Xerxes and the bottom one i named Talon, they are very close to being my number ones.
