For a two way trip, I'm going Jurassic. For a one way trip, I'd jump a few thousand years into the future.

Anywhere in the U.S. on the evening of Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020. I want to watch the vile and evil scurry back into the darkness from which they came. A sentiment a high probable number on each political side would seem to agree with. I hope the world a better and more peaceable place by then, but it is 2020, meaning a super volcano or asteroid is not out of the question. I'm getting my Cormac McCarthy cosplay kit put together for me and my boy. I will honestly be disappointed if Yellowstone doesn't help us ring in the new year with a bang.

I sure hope future tech advancements will be able to vent that thing (ideally as a form of clean energy), otherwise the aftermath will look a lot like The Road. People who think 2020 was bad will realize that this sucky year wouldn't even move the needle on a misery scale of 1-10, with the eruption being over 9. Subjective I know, I mean, how do you quantify misery, say listening to Justin Beiber on a loop for an hour, a day, a week? And would a 10 be like being burned at the stake?

Sorry to break it to you, but the latest study suggests that we're about halfway between eruptions, which are happening at increasing intervals, as well as declining in intensity over time. www.geosociety.org/GSA/News/pr/2020/20-18.aspx

My money is on 2020 spawning a radioactive forest fire and a New Kids On The Block reunion.

I got the opportunity to try 2021: I came back ! Also things wouldn’t degrade that quick. There was a show on the history channel called ‘Life After People’. The premise was if people just disappeared how long would it take for all kinds of things to happen. Interesting show.

Ok. The problems with going to the far past have been discussed, dysentery, slavery, etc. The problem with going into the far future is you don’t know what’s awaiting you. The earth may be a radioactive wasteland and you get a lethal dose of radiation before you get back. Or maybe mankind is gone and there are animals trying to kill you ala ‘Earth 3000’. Terrible movie but you get the idea. I think Curtis_Louis has the right general idea. I’ve always thought I’d like to go back and see all the concerts of the dead artists I was too young to see. Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison. Plus back in the 60’s there was all that free love! By the time I got old enough to take advantage of that it wasn’t free anymore. 😡😩

Seriously though, I would pick 1977. It's a familiar year to me, the Spirit of 76 was still very much alive, you had real auto racing and a lot of it, cheap music concerts, people talked to each other, second hand muscle cars were absurdly dirt cheap (a hemi Roadrunner could be got for $500), and there was just a positive vibe going on. You had rock, metal, disco and punk side by side, Star Wars was fresh on the block and Jaws kept people out of the water. No social media to anger and distance everyone, and food was still natural. Back then you could eat at McDonald's and not get fat. People did outdoor activities and girls were slim and didn't have tattoos and green hair. Sure, there was bad things as well (Jonestown and such), but overall I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Yup, and it was before the AIDS epidemic put an end to casual sex starting to replace handshakes as a greeting, too. Besides, in those Cold War years, I was working on [24 LINES REDACTED], and except for the 20,000 green sheep that glowed in the dark, it was great fun.
